WWE POSSIBLY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF TAKEOVERS

Twitter account WrestleVotes has posted that WWE is considering running a sixth TakeOver event in 2020.

At present five shows are planned, running in January, April, June, August and November, but the Twitter account claims things may very well change depending on how the show is doing on the USA Network.

Interestingly, in a note in WWE investors earlier this week, MKM Partners stated that WWE could move to run move pay per view shows with NXT in the coming year. In the note, analyst Eric handler wrote:

“We anticipate WWE management could look to further monetize the NXT brand with international TV deals either through pay-TV or free to air networks.”

WRESTLEMANIA 37 DOWN TO FOUR CITIES

It seems the hunt for the venue to host WrestleMania 37 is down to four final cities. Earlier this week, Inglewood, California’s Mayor, James T. Butts, confirmed that LA was one of the finalists. Popular Twitter account WrestleVotes also claims that Las Vegas is a potential venue, whilst also acknowledging Los Angeles.

At this time the other two finalists are unknown, but it is thought that Los Angeles is the front runner. LA has been suggested for a number of years now, this in part is due to their new seventy thousand seater stadium. The stadium is due to host the Super Bowl in 2022 and it is thought that city authorities would want to use WrestleMania, with it’s large, mainly out-of town-demographic, as a trial run.

Earlier this year WWE ran a poll, list potential cities for WrestleMania and asking users to select their preference. The cities used in the poll were:

  • London England
  • Chicago Illinois
  • Jacksonville Florida
  • Las Vegas Nevada
  • Santa Clara California
  • Houston Texas
  • Dallas Texas
  • Philadelphia Pennsylvania
  • Toronto Canada
  • Miami Florida
  • Orlando Florida
  • Tampa Florida
