AAA ANNOUNCE MSG SHOW

At a Thursday press conference, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide announced a show for New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday, September 15 with tickets on sale on May 4th.

There is some significance to the dates announced, with the show the day before Mexican Independence Day while the on-sale date is Cinco de Mayo, a nod to the Hispanic community in New York.

This will be the second high profile, non-WWE pro wrestling event held at MSG this year, following this Saturday’s joint ROH/NJPW show.

At the press event, AAA managing director Dorian Roldan said,

“This is one of the important moments in the history of the company since its founding in 1992” and that it’s the start of “their new strategy.”

WWE ANNOUNCE NEW BIOGRAPHY EPISODES

WWE have announced a deal with A&E to produce five, two-hour documentaries as part of the network’s “Biography” series.

The focus on the five documentaries are Randy Savage, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Roddy Piper, and Booker T. The Austin and Michaels films are slated for a 2021 release and the other three are in pre-production and will hit the airwaves in the spring of 2020.

USO’S RE-SIGN WITH WWE

According to a report from PW Insider, Jimmy and Jey Uso have agreed to sign new contracts ahead of their fatal four-way title defense against The Bar, Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev, and Aleister Black and Ricochet at WrestleMania 35.

Pro Wrestling Sheet added that it’s a five-year deal with a pay rise for both men. The Uso’s currently hold the record for  most reigns with the Smackdown Tag Team Championship at four and most combined days holding the Smackdown Tag titles at 374 days plus.

HULK HOGAN TO INDUCT BRUTUS BEEFCAKE

Hulk Hogan has been announced as the person inducting Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake into the WWE Hall of Fame.

WWE made the announcement today, citing Hogan and Beefcake’s close friendship. The  connection between Beefcake (real name Ed Leslie) and Hogan goes back to the 1970s when they teamed in the Southeastern territories. They then worked together in both WWE and WCW.

TAG TITLE MATCH ANNOUNCED FOR WRESTLEMANIA

WWE has now confirmed The Revival will defend the Raw Tag Team titles on Sunday at WrestleMania.

Announced via social media, Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson will face-off against Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins.

NEW NXT THEME DEBUTING NEXT WEEK

WWE COO Triple H revealed on Twitter the “new sound” of NXT.

FINAL PARTICIPANT IN SSS16 ANNOUNCED

PROGRESS announced the 16th and final entrant in the 2019 Super Strong Style 16 tournament. One half of the PROGRESS Tag Team Champions Aussie Open Kyle Fletcher has made the cut, following his recapturing of the belts against The Swords of Essex in a tables, ladders and chairs match.
