At the end of today’s NXT conference call, Triple H confirmed that the brand would be returning to San Jose, CA on the 8th of June. Speaking fondly of the venue, Triple H said:

“(San Jose) is a place where before we were even doing TakeOvers, we kind of did the first WrestleMania weekend event where we were just testing the waters. it sold out and became this epic event that really set the brand in motion. I’m really excited to go back there on June 8, separate from everything else, and other pay-per-views around it, and put on an event that is epic and say thank you to that location for getting us off to such a great start,”

Dave Meltzer recently predicted a TakeOver announcement for the same date and in the same location at the start of the month. Although no one used the term take over during the conference call, judging by Triple H’s language that is exactly what it will be.

STEPH STOKES GRONK RUMORS

As reported earlier this week, Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots announced his retirement from football. At the time both WWE and his friend Mojo Rawley congratulated him on a fantastic career. Stephanie McMahon has added her name to the list and extended a not so subtle invitation to the Superbowl winning former NFL star.

GOLDUST LEAVES WWE AS CONTRACT EXPIRES

ProWrestlingSheet have reported that Goldust’s WWE contract has recently expired and he is currently waiting out the 90-days do not compete clause. They are reporting that he should be free in May, which is coincidently the same Month his brother’s promotion is holding Double or Nothing at the MGM Grand.

Cody still hasn’t announced who he’ll be facing at the event, other than saying that it’s personal and referring to the opponent as ‘the bizarre one’. While this really isn’t much to go on, it would be fitting for the two to have a match at AEW’s first show.

Goldust’s release hasn’t been confirmed by WWE as of the time of writing.
