KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION OPENS DOOR TO INTER-GENDER TITLE MATCHES

Taya Valkyrie recently took part in WrestlingInc’s WINCLY podcast, on it she talked about the current title picture in the Impact Knockouts division and what the future could hold.

Taya was asked specifically about defending the belt against a male opponent:

“Absolutely, I have zero problems doing it, if you look back at the history of the Triple-A women’s title, it has also been put on the line against men in the past. So I don’t understand why the Knockouts Title couldn’t be doing that too. Everyone knows that I have faced many a man in the ring before via Lucha Libre AAA, Lucha Underground and I have absolutely no problem doing it in Impact.”

When asked if she’d like the opportunity to avenge her husband, Johnny Impact’s recent loss to Brian Cage she responded:

“Absolutely! Listen, I have my own history with Mr Brian Cage, the so-called Machine. So, I have absolutely no problem facing off against him. We have years of history and animosity against each other. I would absolutely love to face Mr Brian Cage in a match”

Taya added that she had already faced Cage during Lucha Underground Season 2.

MELTZER ON AEW TNT DEAL

Writing in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer dissects the recent news that TNT will host AEW’s weekly show. In the article, Dave speculates that the show is most likely to air on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening and is expected to run for two hours. There are pro’s and cons to each evening, Tuesday’s conflict with NBA games but has a built-in audience. While there are no scheduling conflicts on Wednesday, it isn’t a night typically associated with wrestling.

While no start date has been announced, Dave points out that the last Tuesday night SmackDown takes place on the 24th of September. This would logically place AEW’s start date on the 1st of October. This would be exactly a year and a month removed from ALL IN.

Dave reveals that apparently, Tony Khan, AEW President and Kevin Reilly, President of TNT and TBS have been in talks for over a year. Apparently, Tony promised Kevin a strong roster and had named a number of stars, Dave reports that he kept his word and signed every wrestler he had listed. Alexa Bliss Not Medically Cleared To Compete At Money In The Bank
