At WWE’s press conference today, as expected, the company unveiled two headline matches for their upcoming trip to Saudi Arabia.
There were no surprises with the two matches announced, Brock Lesnar will face Cain Velasquez and Braun Strowman will face Tyson Fury.
Michael Cole opened the press event, after a brief introduction, Michael introduced WWE Executive Vice-President of Talent, Live Events, and Creative, Triple H. Triple H announced both matches.
The world is about to find out if @BraunStrowman will experience the full fury or if @Tyson_Fury will Get These Hands at #WWECrownJewel. https://t.co/h5voHf0yxP

The press event was held in much the same way as fights are promoted in boxing. For example, after the Braun and Fury match was officially announced, Braun Strowman Strowman came to the mic and read a pre-prepared speech. After Braun left, boxing promoter Bob Arum took to the stage to further hype the fight and introduce Tyson Fury. Tyson took to the stage and delivered his own promo, after which Braun returned for a pre-fight face-off.
At #WWECrownJewel, #WWEChampion @BrockLesnar will go to war with former #UFCChampion @cainmma. https://t.co/AscnjQg5Hg

Rey Mysterio was introduced, and in turn, introduced Cain. Cain delivered his promo, opening with:
“Hello WWE Universe, I am so excited to be joining the WWE”
Cain went on, saying that Brock had crossed the wrong family. Cain referenced his victory over Brock in the UFC and said he was ready to do it again.
After Cain and Rey left, Michael Cole introduced Paul Heyman as Brock Lesnar’s advocate. Although WWE hasn’t intermated at any point that Brock’s newly acquired WWE Championship would be on the line, during Paul’s introduction he clearly stated that Brock was the defending champion, although this can most likely be put down to artistic licence.
Brock came to the podium and delivered his own promo. Brock also referenced the UFC match he lost, claiming he would be seeking revenge for a scar on his face.
Also set for Crown Jewel is a five on five tag match, with Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair coaching a team each.

WWE has just confirmed that they have signed former UFC star Cain Velasquez to a multi-year deal.
In the announcement WWE says that Cain has retired from MMA, “closes the book on a 14-3 career”. It was reported last week that Cain had informed the UFC and USADA that he wished to be removed from the testing pool. This move also certainly signalled the end of Cain’s MMA career, with competitors having to spend a certain amount of time in the pool before being eligible to fight.
SASHA BANKS INJURY UPDATE

Although there is no word on how long she may be sidelined for, unlike other injured stars, Sasha’s name does appear on the list of stars involved in this evening’s draft.
