A shock return brings the love and the pain to WWE’s cruiserweight brand.
The show opens with Vancouver’s own The Singh Brothers. They danced and got a huge ‘Bollywood’ chant. They talked about getting advice from Wayne Gretzky to enjoy this moment, get out of Vancouver and take Bollywood to Hollywood. They then revealed rival hockey jerseys to get heat.
Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch defeated The Singh Brothers via pinfall
The teams brawl to open until The Singhs got the advantage with some double team moves. The Singhs worked over Lorcan until he elbows his way out of trouble and, even with a Samir Singh attempted block, got the hot tag to Burch who ran wild. Singhs hit the Bollywood Blast for a near fall. Lorcan made the save, and hit their elevated DDT for the win.
Brian Kendrick and Ariya Daivari distracted Lorcan and Burch post-match, allowing The Singhs to attack them from behind. Kendrick and Daivari then hit Lorcan and Burch with chairs and paraded around the ring.
We saw video packages for Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza, and an interview from NXT where Lio Rush said he was signed at 21 because he’s the best cruiserweight in the world, so what Devlin says means nothing. He’s beaten every ace and he’s the king of the cruiserweights.
Brian Kendrick cut a promo, saying The Singhs proved him wrong. He assumed they were like any other Canadian and would run like cowards the first chance they got, then Kendrick cut an anti-Canada promo before quoting the Mountie’s theme. He said the Singhs are brave and honourable and as far as he’s concerned, they’re now honorary US citizens.
Ariya Daivari then said he and Kendrick are 205 OGs, and Kendrick mentioned that he and Daivari are contractually obligated to wrestle tonight. He asked who WWE had lined up for them. Tony Nese and Mike Kanellis then came out, and Nese bounced his pecs to the tune of Kanellis’ theme.
Tony Nese & Mike Kanellis defeated Ariya Daivari & Brian Kendrick via pinfall
All four men brawled until Kendrick tripped up Tony Nese, giving the advantage for Ariya Daivari. The two teams went back and forth until Kendrick distracted the referee so Daivari could throw Kanellis into the barricade. Kendrick and Daivari work over Kanellis until a double clothesline allowed both men to tag in Nese and Daivari, which Nese then ran wild.
Tony Nese hit a 450 splash but Kendrick broke the pinfall up, Daivari then hit a frogsplash for a near fall. Brian Kendrick grabbed a pair of chairs and the referee teased a DQ, but a bandaged Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch came down the ringside, causing a distraction that allowed Nese to roll up Daivari for the win.
Burch and Lorcan laid out Kendrick and Daivari with chairs and it was announced that these two teams will face off in a no DQ match next week.
