With 205 and NXT set to go to war next week, are Team NXT in trouble already?
The show began with a brief recap of last week’s show, including Jack Gallagher’s return to attack Lio Rush. Commentary tell us he is not cleared for next week’s NXT vs. 205 Live match.
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott was interviewed backstage and insisted they would move on without a captain and confirmed that a replacement for Rush had been secured.
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott defeated Ariya Daivari via pinfall
The two men locked up before Scott took control with some quick strikes. Taking the advantage, Scott ascended to the top rope but Daivari bailed to the outside. Scott jumped down, punted Daivari on the apron and continued to work him over in the ring. Scott locked him an armbar, but Daivari targeted and worked over Scott’s neck.
The two went back to throwing strikes, with Scott hitting a flatliner for a near fall. He went back to Daivari’s arm, and hit his big double stomp for the win.
Tony Nese and Mike Kanellis defeated Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan via pinfall
The match began with Nese taunting Burch, and Burch laying him out. Burch and Lorcan worked over Kanellis to open, using quick tags. Nese tried to help his partner, but he suffered the same fate.
Nese provided a distraction to allow Kanellis a breather, but Lorcan tagged in and tried to fight both men but he was quickly overwhelmed and ground down. Nese went high risk, going for a moonsault but he missed, allowing Lorcan to get the hot tag for Burch who ran wild. Burch and Lorcan went for a tag team move from the ropes, but Nese broke it up. Nese and Kanellis hit a pumphandle slam/knee strike combination for the win.
