WWE POST HUGE PROFIT IN SECOND QUARTER EARNINGS REPORT

WWE has posted huge profits in its second-quarter earnings call. The company projected profits between $11.5 and $12 million, but have actually reported around $43.8 million.

The news was broken on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Melter and Bryan Alverez. The announcement has shocked many, from boardroom investors to fans who remember the April firings all too well.

WWE knew that they would be saving a huge amount of money by delaying their move into new corporate headquarters, but apparently holding all shows at the Performance Center has really pushed profits up. In a report by Brandon Thurston on Wrestlenomics.com, he also points out that this report will be the first to include WWE’s recent TV deal in India, which will have also bolstered profits.

AEW WIN AGAIN, NXT GAIN GROUND

AEW saw a dip from last week, losing 72,000 viewers, while NXT saw an increase of 92,000 viewers over the previous week. Interestingly the weekly average for the year is about 1.5 million between the two shows, this has fluctuated very little over the entire year. This week is no exception, with 1.48 million viewers, only 2,667 below the average.

FTR TO HOST TAG TEAM SPECIAL ON AUGUST EPISODE OF DYNAMITE

AEW has announced that August 12 will see a special tag team themed episode of Dynamite, hosted by FTR. The announcement comes on the back of FTR signing on last night’s episode of Dynamite.

The show, dabut a tag team appreciation night. While at the moment it is unclear exactly what this will mean, we do know that FTR will be hosting the night. While no matches have been announced, Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho very well might be on that show (Chris has challenged Orange, although he hasn’t accepted at the time of writing), and both men have strong ties to prominent tag teams.
