WWE Extreme Rules Results | July 19th, 2020

It is time for things in WWE to take a turn for horror. With an eye for an eye and swamp match on deck, what could go wrong?

The Preshow saw Kevin Owens take on Buddy Murphy. Kevin Owens was victorious thanks to a stunner.

After the preshow finished up, the main card open with a video giving us a rundown of the feuds coming to a head tonight.

Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The New Day via Ricola Bomb through two tables

The match started off hot right away, as all four men went after each other. Cesaro and Nakamura took control, but eventually Big E wound up turning the tides with a huge spear through the ropes. Unfortunately, the New Day couldn’t keep control. Kofi ended up going for a move on the top rope, that would have put Cesaro through the tables, but he got caught.

Afer the match the new tag team champions celebrated their victory.

Backstage Alexa Bliss, with the help of Kairi Sane and Asuka, gave Nikki Cross a pep talk. Their words seemed to help build some confidence in Cross, as she made her way to the entrance ramp.

Bayley defeated Nikki Cross via Pinfall (Swinging Facebuster)

Once again, Bayley cannot seem to defeat Nikki Cross without some sort of underhanded tactics. This time Bayley used one of Sasha Banks’ rings, specifically the Boss ring, to hit Cross when the ref’s back was turned. It is super unfortunate because we got to see Cross truly shine in this match.

We found out that due to the actions of Bobby Lashley on Monday, Apollo Crews is not cleared for action tonight. Of course this led to MVP and Lashley gloating in the ring. MVP then declared that he is the new United States Champion because Crews “forfeited.” No one acted like the title change was legit, so if MVP is truly the champion we may have to wait til Monday to find out.

Seth Rollins defeated Rey Mysterio in the Eye For An Eye Match

Mysterio tried to catch Rollins off guard, but the surprise attack didn’t work in his favor for long. If this match was a straight up wrestling match, it could have been a classic….the whole eye for an eye thing really made it difficult. Of course Rollins found a way to “get” Mysterio’s eye, with the steel steps. As Samoa Joe told us Mysterio’s eye was out, Rollins threw up off to the side. It was honestly the oddest thing.

After Mysterio was helped to the back, we got an interview with Bayley. She seemed to feel bad for Mysterio for a moment before saying he didn’t have double vision…she was still BAYLEY DOS STRAPS! Then she introduced Sasha Banks and they talked about how Sasha would become 2 Belts Banks.

Sasha Banks defeated Asuka via Pinfall to become the New Raw Women’s Champion…apparently

I honestly don’t know if this title change is legit either. After a rather wonderful match, filled with excellent moves by both women, the ending tainted it. Asuka went for the green mist, but Sasha moved so the mist took out the referee. Then Bayley took Asuka out with the title and got the referee shirt. BAYLEY COUNTED THE THREE!

We were giving an update on Rey Mysterio’s condition. Charly Caruso said that it seemed there would be a chance to save Mysterio’s vision.

Drew McIntyre defeated Dolph Ziggler via Pinfall (Claymore Kick)

Not even having all of the rules in Ziggler’s favor helped him defeat McIntyre. Ziggler made the stipulation an Extreme Rules match, but only for himself. He also took away the champion’s advantage, but this wound up not being a huge deal. McIntyre was able to with stand all Ziggler threw at him, includinng being put through a table, to hit a wicked Claymore to retain his WWE Championship.

Braun Strowman vs Bray Wyatt in a Swamp Match

I wish I knew what actually occured in this match and who won, but your guess is as good as mine. Strowman showed up to the swamp and walked right up to Wyatt saying he was home. All of a sudden Wyatt disappeared and Strowman was left to hunt him down. Along the way he had to fight off other people and he wound up being chained to a chair. Sister Abigal wound up being Alexa Bliss in this weird way.

The match eventually ended, I guess ended, with the men fighting in the Swamp. The Fiend was the last thing we saw though as the swamp turned red.
