Last week’s Smackdown seemed to leave everyone with questions, like what is Miz’s problem or what will happen now that the Usos have returned. We’ll find answers tonight!
Miz TV opens the show. Miz takes a few moments to address his actions from last week. Said he was having a bad day last week and for as much as Kofi Kingston was trying to get him to smile, he just didn’t want too. Miz said something about how sometimes you don’t want to smile, but punch people in the face, which got cheers from the crowd. Miz told them not to cheer that and apologized to Kofi for letting his temper get the best of him.
Then the Miz brings out the returning John Morrison. To remind the WWE Universe of who Morrison is, the Miz shows a highlight reel of his career. After the reel is shown, Morrison gets the mic. Apparently there could have been plans in place for Morrison to return at the Royal Rumble and get the WWE Chronicle treatment, but he decided against it. He said being there for one of his best friends was more important and that’s why he showed up last week.
Morrison then got angry with the WWE Universe for how they treated Miz last week. Says that when everyone thought Miz wouldn’t make it, he just worked harder to prove he belonged and that the fans couldn’t do what Miz does in the ring.
Before Morrison could continue yelling and calling the WWE Universe names, the New Day interrupt. Kofi and Big E say they don’t buy the Miz’s apology. Kofi said if the Miz stopped at he had a bad day, Kofi would have respected that. Kingston says that he is going from being “Cool Miz” to “Obnoxious Miz” and the crowd is right to tell him he sucks.
Miz defeated Kofi Kingston via Pinfall (Skull Crushing Finale)
The Miz truly has changed, whether that is because of the Fiend or the return of John Morrison is yet to be seen. A new and different attitude was on display in this match and even with Big E at his side, Kofi couldn’t get the victory.
After the match we get to go to the Firefly Funhouse. Wyatt tells the fireflies that he loves them. He goes on to say that love is special and everyone deserves love, even Daniel Bryan. Speaking of Bryan, Wyatt says that the Fiend wanted Bryan to remember, to change, and now he just wants to hurt him.
Coming back from commercial we see Sonya Deville with Mandy Rose in the locker room area. Sonya is all excited to be in Rose’s corner for her match tonight, but it seems like Rose is on another planet. Finally Rose snaps out of it and says she has something to do and will meet Deville for the match.
Elias sings a song and seems to possibly have announced his entry to the Royal Rumble match.
Mandy Rose finds Otis and Tucker. She apologizes about what happened with the fruit cake his mom made for her and says she should have spoke up before it was destroyed by Dolph Ziggler. Then she gives Otis a cake she made, its an “I’m Sorry” cake.
Mandy Rose defeated Alexa Bliss via Pinfall (Rollup)
You can thank a distraction by Otis for this outcome and that’s all I got to say about that.
Lacey Evan is supposed to have a match with Sasha Banks, but when Sasha’s music hits she doesn’t appear. In her place, Bayley is on the tron explaining why Sasha is AWOL…she got studio time in LA!
Evans says she isn’t surprised Sasha didn’t show up. While Sasha didn’t show up, Bayley is still there and Evans challenges her to a title match. Shocker! Bayley doesn’t accept and takes a dig at Evans’s daughter. This causes Lacey to leave the ring to find Bayley. The two women brawl backstage before a ref pulls Lacey away.
Daniel Bryan is interviewed. Bryan goes on to say that it seems the Fiend wants a lot of things. Bryan says that although it has been six years, he remembers everything that went down with the Wyatt Family. He even remembers outsmarting the Wyatts, which he is sure the Fiend doesn’t want him to remember. While the Fiend did change him, he was changed for the better.
When the Fiend says he wants to hurt Bryan, Bryan has no doubt that he will, but the Fiend won’t break him. Bryan will show that the Fiend can be hurt.
Then the rabbit from the Funhouse interrupts the interview. He tells Bryan that he knows the secret to defeating the Fiend. Of course the rabbit doesn’t get a chance to say this as Wyatt appears and seems to suffocate the rabbit.
Braun Strowman defeated Shinsuke Nakamura via Pinfall (Powerslam)
While Sami, Cesaro, and Nakamura tried many ways to cheat to get a victory, they couldn’t outsmart the ref or Braun. This victory was big for Braun as it adds to his case to be next in line for the IC title.
Sheamus promo is shown after the match. He makes fun of Shorty G’s catchphrases and says Shorty G represents all that is wrong with Smackdown. Sheamus says that size does matter and now that he is back, he is going to embrace the chaos.
Before the main event, we see Daniel Bryan in the locker room. There is a gift waiting for him on top of his suitcase. Inside the gift is the massacred rabbit.
Roman Reigns makes his entrance and says that 2019 ended pretty rough for him. While Reigns has always had backup, this time he needed more than just friends, he needed family. He goes on to say how 2020 will be his year. He’ll win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania for the fifth time. He’ll accomplish all of this with the Usos by his side.
The Usos come out and say how good it feels to be back. Jimmy says that if you disrespect one of them, you disrespect the entire family. King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler soon come out. Corbin said that Reigns is throwing his family under the bus and is scared to face him. Reigns says he would like nothing more than to face him twice in one night and challenges Corbin to a match at the Royal Rumble, which Corbin accepts.
King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler defeated the Usos via DQ
Well this one had some chaos, but the Usos looked good! Unfortunately the Revival made an appearance causing a distraction which led to Corbin and Ziggler taking over the match. Reigns came back out to take out the Revival and even some of the odds.
Unfortunately Reigns’s temper may have got the best of him as he speared Corbin, causing the match to be thrown out. Before Reigns could continue the destruction, Robert Roode made his return.
Smackdown comes to a close with Corbin, Ziggler, and Roode standing tall. They took out the Usos and left Reigns underneath the announce table as we fade to black.
