WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results – March 27, 2020

Tonight’s episode of Smackdown has us finding out who will face Miz and Morrison at Wrestlemania.

We open the show with Sasha Banks and Bayley. Bayley talks about how Mania will be two nights this year and the best of the best will compete.

Sasha said its a magical time where dreams can come true, that is until Bayley reminded her that their Mania is a nightmare. Bayley really isn’t happy about the match Paige announced last week.

She goes on to say that Paige’s plan won’t work, her and Sasha are better together. Sasha hesitated in agreeing and before she could Lacey Evans came out. Evans said she intends to break Sasha’s jaw and beat respect into Bayley and she becomes the new women’s champion….

Well, that is if she can get past Naomi, who interrupted next. While she maybe with Evans until Bayley and Sasha are dealt with, Naomi has a lot of unfinished business with Bayley. Naomi also said she will snatch the blue wig off Sasha’s head to become a three time Smackdown Women’s Champion.

Enter Tamina. Tamina was brief, she simply said actions speak louder than words and took out Naomi and Lacey. Tamina stares Bayley and Sasha down as they left up the ramp.

Drew Gulak defeated Shinsuke Nakamura via Rollup

Daniel Bryan is going to Wrestlemania! Gulak stuck to the plan and even with Cesaro and Sami Zayn pulling shenanigans at ringside, defeated Nakamura. Bryan did pull Gulak out of the way of a Kinshasa, but it was fun!

After a commercial we got a recap of what went down between Dolph Ziggler and Otis last week. Once the recap was over, backstage we saw Ziggler on the phone with someone. This phone call was interrupted twice. Once by the weird static that has been going on for a few weeks, but also by Heavy Machinery.

With Tucker and Otis being held back by refs, Ziggler challenged Otis to a match at Wrestlemania.

Back out at ringside, we find Elias up on a balcony. Elias finally got to sing us his song about. King Corbin! Essentially the song was about how Corbin has no chance of winning at Mania, but also a lot about how Corbin is a turd. Classic stuff.

As Elias was thanking the “crowd” King Corbin attacked him from behind. Corbin beats Elias over the balcony railing, where Elias can barely hold himself up. Corbin eventually knocks Elias off the railing causing him to fall hard on the floor.

Before the next match we got told Elias was brought to a local medical facility. We then got the entrances of Asuka and Alexa Bliss. Bliss was accompanied to the ring by Nikki Cross, who much to his displeasure, joined Michael Cole on commentary.

Alexa Bliss defeated Asuka via Pinfall (DDT)

This probably the most enjoyable part of the show. Nikki Cross was a gem on commentary and Asuka and Bliss put on a fun match.

We go backstage where the Usos happened to be. They said their road to Wrestlemania wouldn’t be complete without a match with the New Day.

In this show’s replay of a match, we head back to Wrestlemania 32; Triple H versus Roman Reigns.

After the replay, we are treated to an interview with Triple H. It is an odd interview as Triple H spoke on a match that isn’t happening. Ya know, Goldberg vs Roman Reigns? Very odd.

We get a quick promo from the New Day. They told us they intend to beat the Usos and become the eight time tag team champions at Wrestlemania.

After another commercial, we once again see Dolph Ziggler backstage. This time Mandy Rose came up to him. She told him that he can have the match with Otis at Mania, but it won’t be over her. Ziggler seemed to agree, but still promised victory.

Firefly Funhouse time! Before Bray Wyatt can truly begin, the lantern started making noises. Wyatt yelled and it and went on to tell us that this time against John Cena he won’t fail. Abby seemed to disagree and asked if he had some sort of recipe to defeat Cena.

Apparently Wyatt does! He began to put a bunch of ingredients into a blender…then Rambling Rabbit appeared. Unfortunately his offer of a carrot wasn’t enough and into the blender he went!

Wyatt drank from the blended up concoction and then had an idea! He challenged John Cena to a Firefly Funhouse Match at Mania.

New Day versus The Usos ended in a No Contest

Of course the match was off to a great start, but with Miz and Morrison at the commentary table it was bound to get crazy. Miz and Morrison ended up interfering, which will hurt their Mania chances.

Michael Cole announced after the match, that the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships will defended in a triple threat ladder match!

    Paige Brearley
'We want you to stand out here in front of the world, and we want them to hear Triple H's words come out of your mouth. We are going to listen to every word, and then we're gonna beat the hell out of you.' - Dean Ambrose
