Tonight, we find out who will be Smackdown’s final entrants into the Money In The Bank matches.
After hearing a rundown of the night from commentary, we see Daniel Bryan in the ring. Bryan said that he loves what he does, but at this stage in his career he loves tackling new challenges. He is very excited to be in the most unique Money In The Bank match.
Bryan than talked about how when he won the Money In The Bank match it changed his career. While he excited about this upcoming opportunity, he is also sad that Drew Gulak won’t be in MITB with him. Bryan wants to settle the score with King Corbin.
Corbin then made his way to the ring. He told Bryan that he should be careful when calling out the King because his kind makes Bryan’s suffer. Then a replay of what happened during Corbin’s match with Drew Gulak is shown.
After the replay is shown, Corbin told Bryan to not waste his time and stop dreaming about winning MITB. Corbin said he will be winning the briefcase. This gave Bryan the opportunity to remind Corbin that when he won MITB, he squandered his opportunity. This didn’t sit well with Corbin.
Daniel Bryan defeated King Corbin via DQ
The match was going okay, but as soon as Bryan was taking control Corbin took the easy way out. He grabbed a ladder that was ringside and threw it at Bryan, forcing the ref to disqualify him.
Corbin is furious at the ref for disqualifying him. He wound up throwing the ladder into the ring. Then Corbin got Bryan into the ring, yelling at the ref that what he was about to do was his fault. He went for End of Days on the ladder, but Bryan reversed it into the Yes Lock..on top of the ladder!
Of course Bryan’s good luck didn’t last. Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro came out to help Corbin. After taking Bryan up the entrance ramp, Corbin threw him off and into a bunch of ladders.
Before a commercial, we saw Braun Strowman chatting with Alexa Bliss backstage.
When we came back from commercial, we got the entrance of Strowman. Once he got a mic, Strowman started to bring up what happened last week. He made it clear that the past is the past, no matter how many gifts Bray Wyatt tries to give him.
Before Strowman can continue, he was interrupted by the Firefly Funhouse. Wyatt said it’s story time. He goes on to tell the story of the Black Sheep. After telling his story, Wyatt said he wants to create an alternate ending. An ending in which the shepherd finds him, reminds him of his mistakes, and takes always the black sheep’s happiness.
Strowman told Wyatt he is done with the puppets and games, if there is something he has to say then he should say it to his face. Wyatt just waves goodbye and thats the end of the Funhouse.
Sheamus defeated Leon Ruff via Pinfall (Brogue Kick)
I mean, there really isn’t too much to say about this one…
After the match, Sheamus went to the commentary table to ask Michael Cole if he was going to bring up Jeff Hardy tonight. A terrified Cole, said that the comeback of Jeff Hardy was next.
We saw the last installment of the Jeff Hardy miniseries they have been showing and find out Jeff will be at Smackdown next week. Sheamus made it clear he will too.
Otis and Mandy Rose are interviewed by Kayla Braxton about their matches tonight. Otis said that he will beat Dolph Ziggler tonight just like he did at Wrestlemania. Then Otis will go on to win MITB for his ‘precious peach’ Mandy.
When asked if Sonya’s betrayal was weighing on her tonight, Mandy said it did hurt her, but she is looking to the future. She said she wasn’t overlooking Carmella, but she would go on to the MITB match and win.
Carmella defeated Mandy Rose to qualify for the Money In The Bank match
Unfortunately for Rose, Sonya Deville made her presence known in this one. Deville came out and talked at the top of the ramp for the majority of the match until making the move like she was going to fight Rose. This was all the distraction Carmella needed to take control and be victorious.
After the match, Deville attacked Rose. Deville yelled about how Rose would never be better than her and that she would ruin her life. She threw Rose into the ring post and the ring steps.
As refs were trying to get Deville to leave after her vicious assault, she yelled at Rose that she will end her. It was a lot. We then went to commercial.
Upon returning from break, we saw Mandy Rose getting checked out by the trainer. Otis was in there with her, but was asked to leave so the trainer could check on a few more things with Rose. When Otis was leaving he ran into Dolph Ziggler, who asked about Rose.
Before the match between the New Day and Forgotten Sons began, Miz and Morrison came out to sit with commentary.
Forgotten Sons defeated New Day via Pinfall (Stomp assisted DDT)
Yeah, you read that right. The Forgotten Sons defeated the Smackdown Tag Team Champions. Of course, Cutler and Blake did not get the victory without help from Jason Ryker, who took Big E out of the match.
Backstage Tamina is being interviewed and she said at Money In The Bank she won’t be intimidated by bratty mean girls in Bayley and Sasha Banks.
Banks showed up and tried to get Tamina on her side by sweetening her up. Tamina isn’t buying it and turned just in time to catch Bayley trying to attack her from behind. Of course this left her back to Banks who attacked. Lacey Evans made the save for Tamina. Eventually the brawl had to be broken up by referees and road agents.
We then saw Sonya Deville talking to Dolph Ziggler before his match. Deville said that she is just going to keeping hurting Mandy Rose, like Ziggler is going to do to Otis. Ziggler said that everyone thinks he is the bad guy, but he is just the guy who knows how the world works.
He said he knows why people cheer Otis, because he is relatable and they could see themselves drinking a beer with him. But Ziggler said guys like Otis don’t win….guys like Ziggler do. He said he would win tonight, go on to MITB and win again. Then he would cash in the contract again and become champion….again.
Otis defeated Dolph Ziggler to qualify for the Money In The Bank match
Looks like Ziggler couldn’t make good on his words from earlier. Otis really had control for most of the match, anytime Ziggler had an advantage Otis was quick to change that.
Well thats the show folks.
