WWE Hell in a Cell 2013 Predictions

Site co-owners Dean & Mike sit down and give their predictions on the upcoming WWE Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View. Have a read and find out how they do.

Here’s how we here at TheWrestlingMania.com think it will all go down….

Hell in a Cell Kickoff
Curtis Axel (c) vs. Big E. Langston
Intercontinental Championship

Mike – We say this all the time at TWM but the WWE always seem to get this match right. It’s pivotal that they choose something that will intrigue people that aren’t 100% sure that they are going to buy the PPV, and this is that very match. It’s a shame but I think it’s time for Axel to drop the title after an extremely lacklustre reign, plus the upside of Big E as champion is much bigger than that of Axel’s.

Winner – Big E. Langston

Dean – Nice to see Big E. turning face and hopefully getting a run with the Intercontinental Title. However, I do fear for the son of Mr. Perfect if he loses the championship. Both men really need this win and this match could have a much bigger effect on their careers than one would think. A loss for Axel could see him abandoned by Paul Heyman, yet a win for Big E could see him thrust into the upper-mid card. This one could really go either way.

Winner – Big E. Langston

Los Matadores vs. The Real Americans

Mike – I want to see a Big Swing followed by The Patriot Lock in this one, I fear I will be disappointed.

Winners – The Real Americans

Dean – Although some people are already sick of the new gimmick Primo and Epico have been “saddled with” (I prefer the word “opportunity”) they are on a roll as of late and if you look past the goofy masks and the midget bull they’re a great tag team. As far as the Real Americans go, they’re in desperate need of a babyface turn. The fans have been behind them for weeks and it’s all down to Cesaro and his Giant Swing. I will admit though, I’d love it if El Torito became the latest victim of the Cesaro Swing. For me, the Matadores win with Cesaro perhaps even splitting from the team as a result, with maybe a heel Swagger turning on him.

Winners – Los Matadores

WWE Tag Team Championships
Triple Threat Match
The Rhodes Family (c) vs. The Uso’s vs. The Shield

Mike – How do you turn Cody Rhodes into a star and make Goldust relevant again? Have one of them fired and have their Hall of Fame father knocked out is how. This rivalry is red hot at the moment and is going toe-to-toe for best feud with Orton-Bryan. As much as I like The Usos and their brilliant tag-team style I expect The Rhodes to retain after a brilliant match.

Winners – The Rhodes Family

Dean – Perfectly explained on RAW by Michael Cole, even though The Uso’s won a number 1 contenders match a few weeks ago, The Shield have invoked their rematch clause after losing the titles to The Rhodes Family. There have been rumblings that the tag team division is being looked at as a priority again and so I think neither The Rhodes or The Shield need the titles to continue their storyline as part of the bigger picture with The Authority. Also it would make The Uso’s big win a few weeks ago totally pointless if they didn’t take home the titles.

Winners – The Uso’s

WWE Divas Championship
AJ Lee (c) vs. Brie Bella

Mike – AJ Lee is comfortably the best Divas Champion of the last few years, she has brought new life to the title and has delivered on the microphone and in the ring 99% of the time. We have to give some credit to Brie for progressing after most had given up on her getting better. I am going against my better judgement by saying that AJ will retain after outside interference from Tamina.

Winner – AJ Lee

Dean – I have no idea why the Bella’s are suddenly babyfaces (Well I do, but it’s had no explanation and makes no sense) however it’d be a crime if Brie took the title away from AJ. Given the popularity of Total Divas though, that COULD happen.

Winner – Brie Bella

Handicap Hell in a Cell Match
CM Punk vs. Ryback & Paul Heyman

Mike – Can anyone honestly say they are excited to see this match? Don’t get me wrong, I expect all involved to try their hardest to put on a classic but I just can’t see it happening. We also have to work out how much Ryback losing to Punk at Battleground hurt his character, then we have to compare that to Punk’s incredibly bad form on PPV over the last year to find which one will suffer more from a loss.

Winner – CM Punk

Dean – Very difficult to predict due to numerous factors. Ryback hasn’t won a PPV match in a long time and probably needs the win more than CM Punk does. I can see this being the payoff for this part of the feud and it’s surely only a matter of time before Brock Lesnar makes an appearance. I expect this to be the beginning of the end of the Heyman camp although you never really know. Ryback also allegedly has backstage heat so that could also affect the outcome of the match. But then again, it’s 1-0 to Punk, so I can also see a Ryback & Heyman win, with the rubber match coming in the style of a classic Survivor Series match – Team Punk vs. Team Heyman

Winners – Ryback & Paul Heyman

World Heavyweight Championship
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. John Cena

Mike – This one is intriguing for many reasons; is Cena coming back too soon? has ADR’s reign been a complete failure? I don’t think we’ll get all the answers at Hell in a Cell but the result will go some way to answering the questions. I expect a good match between the two but I can see Cena taking it easier than he usually would to try and protect his elbow this early in his return. There is also the added element of Damien Sandow waiting in the shadows to cash in his briefcase.

Winner – John Cena

Dean – The talk of the build-up to this match has not once mentioned if Alberto Del Rio can retain the title, but it’s all been about John Cena making an epic comeback and questioning whether he might be coming back too soon. I think this will be key in the match. Listeners of the TWM Raw Recap Show will know that I predict Del Rio re-injures Cena’s arm leaving him out for the remainder of his original injury time (January-ish) with Del Rio focussing on the arm. This match is purely for a PPV buy-rate. I can’t help but wonder about the possibility of a Cena vs. Bryan title unification showdown with a Bella in each corner though……and will Sandow cash in?

Winner – Alberto Del Rio

WWE Championship Hell in a Cell Match
Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton (with Shawn Michaels as the Special Referee)

Mike – I am of the opinion that Shawn Michaels will not turn on Daniel Bryan at Hell In A Cell. I know my co-host disagrees with my assessment but turning Michaels heel makes no sense if he isn’t going to be making regular appearances going forward. I can see Michaels being knocked down inadvertently and having to count the pin in Orton’s favour after some shenanigans from The Authority.

Winner – Randy Orton

Dean – We both love this storyline, and if it continued right up until WrestleMania that would be far from a bad thing. I’m quite shocked when people say they’re tired of this storyline. In fact I think it’s only just beginning. Remember all the talk about Big Show being fired, not having  job yet hijacking a satellite feed? I’m under the impression it could be Vince McMahon’s doing, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the big man get involved in this match somehow, perhaps even being under the ring? Who knows. There’s also the wildcard of HB-Shizzle as the referee too, and I can’t see old HBK calling this right down the middle. The fact that the WWE Universe chose HBK could be key – the fans will be blamed when HBK turns on Bryan. Tough one to call but for me the chase for D.Bry isn’t over.

Winner – Randy Orton
