WWE & Impact Hall Of Famers Launches New Promotion | Wrestling News Update, March 3, 2020

LITA, GAIL KIM AND CHRISTY HEMME LAUNCH ‘THIS IS KAYFABE’

Amy “Lita” Dumas, Gail Kim, and Christy Hemme launched a Kickstarter Monday in hopes of producing a pilot called ‘Kayfabe’. They describe it as ‘half story, half in-ring action’ one hour show.

In the description they go further on what it is about, saying;

“It is an edgy, racy, cinematic television series about a female-led professional wrestling start-up. This show is a dramatization and collection of female stories inspired by real-life events.”

It also reveals that other members of the ‘Kayfabe’ team include former WWE writer Tom Casiello, former WWE/Impact production team member David Sahadi, Jimmy Jacobs, and Chavo Guerrero.

They are looking to raise $400,000 in 36 days with stretch goals of up to $4.6 million to produce a full eight-episode season.

TWO MATCHES MADE FOR ELIMINATION CHAMBER

WWE have announced three matches for Elimination Chamber, based from last nights episode of RAW.

Fresh from his tag victory over the champion, Humberto Carrillo will challenge Andrade for the United States Championship.

It was also announced during Raw tonight that AJ Styles and Aleister Black will face off in a no disqualification match at Sunday’s PPV. This stems from AJ Styles screwing Aleister Black out of his scheduled match last night, making him face both Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Styles then eventually picked up the easy win over a beat-down Black.

Finally, The Street Profits will defend their newly won RAW Tag Team Titles against the former champions Seth Rollins and Murphy. They won the gold in their final shot on last night’s RAW, thanks to Kevin Owens.

WWE Elimination Chamber takes place this Sunday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

FIREFLY FUN HOUSE ANNOUNCED FOR THIS WEEKS SMACKDOWN

During an advertisement that aired during last night’s Raw announced that a new edition of Firefly Fun House will air on SmackDown this week.

Last week, The Fiend challenged John Cena to a match at WrestleMania 36 at the close of last week’s episode.

LIO RUSH PULLED FOR WXW 16 CARAT, REPLACED BY JEFF COBB

Jeff Cobb is replacing Lio Rush in this years wXw 16 Carat Gold.

They announced that Rush is no longer a part of the tournament due to being pulled by WWE.

In their statement, they said;

“Unfortunately WWE has pulled @itsLioRush from #wXw16Carat due to his WWE schedule. We are as dissapointed about this as you are. We are excited to confirm @RealJeffCobb as Lio’s replacement for #wXw16Carat.”

He will be facing Alexander James in the first round. 16 Carat Gold is taking place in Oberhausen, Germany this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

NJPW ANNOUNCES BEST OF SUPER JUNIORS DATES

New Japan Pro Wrestling have announced the dates for the 27th Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

This year’s tournament will start on May 12th and will run three days straight in Korakuen Hall. There will be another three dates on May 21st through 23rd, and one final date on June 4th.

The finals will take place on Saturday, June 6th at the Ota Ward General Gymnasium.

Block formatting and participants for this year’s tournament have yet to be named. Will Ospreay won last years tournament, defeating Shingo Takagi in the finals.

VICE ANNOUNCES DETAILS FOR ‘DARK SIDE OF THE RING’ SEASON 2

The professional wrestling docuseries will return to Vice TV with a two-hour season premiere on Tuesday, March 24th. The episode will debut, and focus on the Chris Benoit double murder-suicide, with David Benoit and Nancy Benoit’s sister Sandra Toffoloni being interviewed for the episode.

They have also announced that Chris Jericho is the new narrator for Dark Side of the Ring. In addition, a weekly after-show hosted by comedian Chris Gethard will air, that will feature “a panel of guests from the worlds of wrestling and entertainment who will dissect the episodes. Fans will get to see dynamic conversations with insiders and experts, exclusive unseen clips and behind-the-scenes moments.”

  • David Schultz’s assault of 20/20 reporter John Stossel

PAUL ROBINSON ANNOUNCED FOR SUPER STRONG STYLE 16

Paul Robinson is the next entrant for this year’s Super Strong Style 16 tournament.

The current PROTEUS Champion joins Jonathan Gresham, Chris Ridgeway, Travis Banks, Sonicom Ilja Dragunov and Rampage Brown in this year’s tournament, taking place at Alexandra Palace between the 23rd to 25th May, 2020.
