After Shayna Baszler’s shocking attack on Becky Lynch, will the two have a confrontation tonight?
We open the show with the entrance of Randy Orton. Then we see a video recapping his actions from last week.
After the video, Orton gets a mic and says the no holds barred match isn’t going to happen. He says that as far as he is aware, Matt Hardy was still trying to convince WWE doctors to let him compete. Before he can say what would happen to Hardy if he were to compete, Hardy interrupted.
Hardy, wearing a neck brace, makes the walk down the ramp. He is still wondering what the hell is wrong with Orton and wants answers. While WWE Doctors won’t clear him to compete, Hardy is still here trying to honor his word. Just like Edge, Hardy says he has grit.
Hardy says he determines his future, not Orton. Once Matt gets in the ring, a rather surprised Orton tells him he should have left well enough alone last week while he could still walk. Orton asked Hardy what he would do if he RKO’d him right then and there.
Orton said no one will know the reason for his attack on Edge. He respects Hardy a lot, just like he respects Edge. Not only does Orton respect Edge, he loves him like a brother. He actually says sorry and leaves the ring.
But Orton couldn’t leave it at that. Conflicted, he turns back around to see Hardy with a chair in the ring. He gets back to the ring, Hardy took a swing and missed. Orton snapped Hardy’s neck on the ropes. Unfortunately when all is said and done, Orton hits Hardy’s head twice with a chair, on the steel steps.
Aleister Black defeated Erick Rowan via Pinfall (Black Mass)
This certainly was an interesting match up. Black definitely made a statement in this one, so fair play to him.
We see a video of what happened between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair at last night’s TakeOver.
Flair is then in the ring to address her decision to face Ripley at Wrestlemania. She says she was at TakeOver to discover who was filling Ripley’s head with the idea she could step to the Queen. Although Flair was impressed with what she saw from Ripley, it caused her to reminisce about her time in NXT.
Flair reminisced over the highs and lows of NXT and how her class laid the foundation for present day NXT. Flair is bothered by the entitlement of those in NXT now, including Ripley. Charlotte says she is the one to put the NXT Women’s Championship on the map, and at Mania she is going to humble Ripley.
Riddick Moss defeated Mojo Rawley and R-Truth to retain the 24/7 Championship
R-Truth channeled his childhood hero, John Cena, but it wasn’t enough to to get his title back. As for Mojo, things just keep going wrong. As he was on the verge of victory, Moss came out of nowhere to pin him.
After the match, Mojo yelled at Truth, blaming him for the loss. Truth hit him with a scissors kick before going to a commercial break.
Once back from break, Drew McIntyre is in the ring and reminds the us how close we are to Wrestlemania. Then, along with the crowds help, he points to the Mania sign. A little geography lesson from the Scotsman, at Mania Claymore Country will invade Suplex City and he will walk out the new WWE Champion.
Paul Heyman then interrupted and introduced Brock Lesnar, only Lesnar is not there. He just wanted McIntyre to get a glimpse of what is to come at Mania.
The two trade words before Heyman introduces MVP. While Heyman has no issue with McIntyre, MVP said he had a huge problem with him. He then attacked McIntyre with his mic before the bell.
Drew McIntyre defeated MVP via Pinfall (Claymore Kick)
Lesson learned, don’t anger Drew McIntyre. Attacking him before the match didn’t help MVP, as he fell victim to the Claymore yet again.
Before a commercial we get a recap of what occurred between Shayna Baszler and Becky Lynch last week. We also get Lynch’s entrance.
Once back from commercial, Becky says she came to this country in search of fame and fortune. She discovered that she has no use for the fame, but the fortune? She has plans for the fortune. Lynch then picks up a bag she walked out with and begins tosses money all over the ring.
Lynch said this is her paying her fine up front for what she will do when she gets her hands on Shayna. She says WWE can take every single penny she has, because bad things are going to happen when she finally finds Shayna.
All of a sudden Shayna Baszler appears on the tron. She tells Becky how things are really going to go down. Baszler is going to chew through everyone in the Elimination Chamber. The chamber is a cage and if anyone knows about cages, it’s Baszler. Once she wins the Chamber, she will take the title from Becky at Mania.
Baszler also said that she didn’t plan to bite Becky, but to just imagine the things she does have planned. Becky then told her she will be watching Elimination Chamber and is rooting for her.
Backstage Lana, Bobby Lashley, Zelina Vega, and Angel Garza are being interviewed by Charly Caruso. Lana said she came up with the plan for all of them to team up on Valentine’s Day because DOUBLE DATES!
Vega reminds Lana that the relationship between her and Garza is strictly business. Garza calms Vega down and then says that Carrillo will be reminded that he doesn’t come close to measuring up to him.
Bobby Lashley and Angel Garza defeated Rusev and Humberto Carrillo via Pinfall
Not much to say about this one but, Garza did score the victory with a handful of Rusev’s tights.
Kairi Sane defeated Natalya via Countout
Unfortunately for Nattie the numbers game got the best of her. While the ref was dealing with Sane, Asuka took advantage of Nattie being on the outside and kicked her. Nattie couldn’t make it back in the ring before the count of ten.
Sermon time! Murphy gave Seth Rollins an introduction and then Rollins begins his sermon. Rollins thanks the crowd for making him the man he is today. He also thanks them for making him their Messiah.
Rollins said that what he had to talk about was truly divine. He began by talking about his vision and how just phase one was completed last week. According to Rollins, phase one was eliminating Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and the Viking Raiders.
Rollins went on by saying that phase two would not come easy, but it would be for the greater good. He said if there are any WWE Superstars who continue to be non compliant, they will suffer the consequences.
Before Rollins could go on, the Viking Raiders interrupt and clear house. Seth tried to escape, but Kevin Owens hit him with a Stunner at the top of the ramp.
Backstage, Rollins, Murphy, and the AOP are stopped for an interview. Since his disciples are the only ones who show him any respect and KO and Viking Raiders are looking for a fight, they’ll get one. Of course, this fight won’t involve the Messiah.
The OC along with AJ Styles make their entrance. Styles said it wouldn’t be Wrestlemania season without him. Styles, being ever so humble, said he is the greatest superstar of this and any era.
After he wins at Super Showdown, Styles said he will be asking who’s next and it doesn’t matter who it is. Although Styles said he hopes the WWE Champion will be available, no matter who that may be.
Enter Ricochet. The OC and Ricochet have a bit of a back and forth, where AJ tells Ricochet there is no way he’ll ever be WWE Champion. Ricochet lays down a challenge for a match, but instead of AJ accepting, Karl Anderson does.
Ricochet defeated Karl Anderson via Pinfall (Recoil)
A pretty back and forth contest for the most part, but Ricochet needed the victory before Super Showdown.
Liv Morgan is interviewed backstage. She said that she had been so excited to see Ruby Riott return, that is until Riott betrayed her. Morgan said she is no longer the puppy on a leash Riott called her. At the Elimination Chamber, Morgan said she’ll eliminate Riott and go on to Wrestlemania.
Kevin Owens and the Viking Raiders defeated Murphy and the AOP via DQ
KO and the Raiders were on the verge of a victory by their own merits, but the Messiah couldn’t let that happen. Rollins interfered and then with the help of his disciples continued to beat down, the “non-believers.”
Thankfully KO and the Viking Raiders still have some friends and the Street Profits came down to make the save. We end RAW with KO, the Viking Raiders, and the Street Profits standing tall and the Messiah raging on the ramp.
