With the Royal Rumble behind us, we’re now truly on the road to Wrestlemania. The question is, will Edge be joining us?
Drew McIntyre opens the show to chants of ‘You deserve it.’ McIntyre said he needed someone to pinch him to make sure he didn’t dream up the last 24 hours. McIntyre then announces that he will indeed be challenging Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.
McIntyre goes on to say that while the rest of the boys in the back are afraid of Lesnar, he knew he could Claymore Kick him over the top rope. At Wrestlemania he knows he can beat Lesnar to become WWE Champion.
Then McInytre says he needs to let out some energy and is in the mood for a Claymore party. So an open challenge is issued, which Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows accept.
Drew McIntyre defeated Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows via Pinfall (Claymore Kick)
McIntyre made this look really easy. Unfortunately for the former tag team champions, they really didn’t have a chance in defeating the Royal Rumble winner.
While McIntyre was clearing the ring of The OC to celebrate, Brock Lesnar snuck in. As soon as McIntyre turned around he was met with a F5.
Rey Mysterio defeated MVP via Pinfall
It was pretty cool seeing MVP back in a WWE ring, right? The ending of the match was a little odd, but Mysterio got a much needed victory on the road to Mania.
Aleister Black defeated Kenneth Johnson via Pinfall (Black Mass)
Back to local competitors, Black made quick work of his opponent.
After the match, Aleister told the WWE Universe that he took responsibility for his elimination last night. He said that while he has been waiting around for people to pick a fight with him, it hasn’t been working out for him. He gave the RAW locker room that he will be picking the fights now.
A video recap is shown of how Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy became the RAW Tag Team Champions.
Before their match, Rollins said he was so close to winning the Rumble for the second year in a row, but it wasn’t in the cards. He went on to congratulate Drew McIntyre on his victory and warned him that the crowd can turn on him in an instant.
Rollins then brags about being the one to eliminate Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe in the Rumble because now they won’t be going to Mania. Then he called out Joe and KO to get their match underway.
Joe and KO make their way out, but don’t go straight to the ring. KO told Rollins that he talks to much and they had a bit of a back and forth. Joe and KO both don’t trust Rollins, they called him a liar multiple times, and ask where the AOP are. Rollins said in his locker room and has camera evidence. After showing AOP a few times, The Viking Raiders attack, which was a brilliant plan by KO and Joe.
Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy defeated Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe via Rollup
Even though the AOP weren’t at ringside, things did not go as planned for KO and Joe. Samoa Joe, unfortunately, was taken out of the match up early on because of a dive to the outside. Because of the dive, ringside doctors would not allow him to continue. KO did his best on his own, but the Monday Night Messiah was still a step ahead.
Becky Lynch was interviewed by Charly Caruso. In the interview, Lynch said she realized last night that she is a class above everyone else. Now the next opponent she beats will be because she wants to and not because she has too. When asked about the possibility of facing Charlotte Flair at Mania, Lynch says it wouldn’t be the first time and probably won’t be the last.
Humberto Carrillo defeated Andrade via DQ
Of course Zelina Vega couldn’t let her business client lose the US Championship, so she interfered. Carrillo looked more aggressive in this match up, which served him well after the match.
After the match went to a DQ, Carrillo went off on Andrade beating him up until the two ended up outside the ring. To the joy of the crowd, Carrillo exposed concrete and wound up giving a DDT to Andrade.
While the Queen was supposed to announce who she would face at Wrestlemania, she decided to keep us waiting a bit longer. During Charlotte’s promo, Asuka came out. Asuka said that if she was in the Royal Rumble, she would have won.
Charlotte Flair defeated Asuka via DQ
It is unfortunate that this one ended in a DQ, via Kairi Sane elbow. This one doesn’t really seem to help either woman, but who knows what could happen in the next few weeks.
Before defending the 24/7 championship, Mojo Rawley introduced the WWE Universe to Riddick Moss. Moss apparently will be Rawley’s “offensive lineman,” someone to keep an eye on his blindside.
Mojo Rawley defeated No Way Jose via Pinfall
This was a quick one, but Rawley’s night wasn’t quite over. After his victory a member from Jose’s conga line got in the ring and rolled him up to win the 24/7 title. This person of course was R-Truth. Sadly Truth did not keep the title long, as Riddick Moss got in his way of leaving. Rawley is still your 24/7 champion.
Video of what went down at Lana and Bobby Lashley’s wedding is shown. Commentary lets us know that Lashley and Rusev got into a parking lot brawl last night and that is why neither were in the Rumble match.
Liv Morgan defeated Lana via Pinfall
This was an impressive showing for Liv in the short amount of time the match was given. This match didn’t seem like a definitive end to the drama they have gone through recently.
Erick Rowan defeated Branden Vice via Pinfall (Iron Claw Slam)
This really isn’t a surprise anymore right? SQUASH MATCH.
Now onto what everyone tuned into RAW for, is the Rated R Superstar sticking around for awhile?
Edge came out to the ring to another amazing response and he was pretty overwhelmed by it. He thanked the fans and when they chanted ‘you still got it,’ he responded with a confident ‘Damn right I do.’
Edge talked about his retirement and how in the years since he had been feeling really good. Edge doesn’t like to live in a world of what ifs, so when the question of what if he could come back to wrestling, came up he went to work on finding out. He even had a second neck surgery and got in the best shape of his life to do so. He has done all of this work so he can end his career on his terms.
While Edge did admit that he isn’t sure how long this new lease on his career will last, but he hopes everyone will join the ride. Before Edge can continue his former tag team partner, Randy Orton interrupts.
Orton welcomes Edge back home and posed the question, ‘What if Rated RKO gave it one more go?’ Just when the crowd was really into it and excited about it, Orton hit Edge with a RKO. Orton didn’t stop there though, he brought in a steel chair and hit Edge in the back.
We ended RAW with Orton getting a second chair to place under Edge’s head and hit a conchairto. Mania season just got real interesting.
