WWE Monday Night Raw Results – 5th August 2019

Matty Deller runs down the results from last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

The final RAW before SummerSlam was full of incident as we head towards Toronto.

  • We open with the entire roster on the ramp for a ten-bell salute for the victims of El Paso and Dayton.
  • The opening of the show is then interrupted by Samoa Joe, who is stood on the announce table screaming his innocence regarding the attack on Roman Reigns. He asked Michael Cole if he saw him anywhere near Reigns backstage on Smackdown and Corey Graves tried to reason with him. Cole told him a poll indicated that more than 80-percent of the “WWE universe” thought what happened to Reigns was not an accident, Joe said more than 80-percent of the WWE universe were idiots. They air a video package from Roman’s attack on SmackDown, with Joe saying there were plenty of cameras there, but not showed him being there. He said he would wait here all night for Reigns to arrive for an apology.
  • WWE Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair defeated Natalya & Trish Stratus via disqualification when Natalya refused to let go of the sharpshooter.
  • Natalya kept the hold on until Stratus came into to stop her. Natalya pushes Stratus and left.
  • Rey Mysterio defeated Andrade via pinfall.
  • We saw footage of Mike and Maria Kanellis at the OB-GYN. Maria bragged to the other patients about being a pregnant champ, then told Mike he had one job; to protect her, the baby, and the belt. After a break, we hear Mike telling Maria to relax and gave her a kiss while covering her shoulders. We see that the doctor was actually NXT referee Jessika Carr.
  • WWE 24/7 Championship: Mike Kanellis defeated Maria Kanellis via pinfall to win the title.
  • Mike ran out of the office celebrating, past R-Truth and Carmella in disguise. Truth said his water broke and pulled a toy baby out of his clothes and tossed it in the air. Mike tried to catch, and in the chaos, Truth rolled him up.
  • WWE 24/7 Championship: R-Truth defeated Mike Kanellis via pinfall.
  • Becky Lynch is interviewed by Charley Caruso, saying Natalya would let Canada down like she has her whole career.  She comments on Natalya complaining on social media about not getting the chances that Lynch got, but Lynch gave the machine no choice but to give her the opportunity. She said that when Lynch stood on top of an arena bleeding with a broken face, Natalya was on a reality show changing her bikini and on social media perfecting her duckface. Lynch concluded she would give Toronto a new hero in herself.
  • We then cut to Sarah Schreiber talking to Natalya. She says Lynch can’t win, because even if she applies the Disarmer and breaks her arm, Natalya won’t tap. She vows to take the title in Toronto.
  • Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar then come out to the ring, with Heyman saying Lesnar wanted him to educate the audience. Heyman questioned Seth Rollins being the beast slayer and the architect who would burn down Suplex City. They then aired a video package of Lesnar beating down Rollins. Heyman then begged Lesnar to show mercy to Seth Rollins last week, because WWE needs a new hero and admitted the beatdown was borderline criminal. He also reveals he has inside information that Rollins was in Pittsburgh tonight. Heyman said Rollins has more balls than brains, only for Seth Rollins to interrupt.
  • Seth Rollins dragged himself out, using a steel chair as a crutch. He charged at Lesnar with the chair but Lesnar dropped him with a kick to the ribs. Lesnar hits him with the chair and then threw him into the turnbuckle. Lesnar finished Rollins off with the F5 and then posed with the belt.
  • Rollins grabbed a mic and said he’s had to ask himself if all of this was worth it. He said the thing that he loved was getting him beaten to a pulp week after week, so yes it was worth it. He says this is all he is, all he ever wanted and all he’s got. Rollins guaranteed he would beat Brock Lesnar.
  • Charley Caruso interviewed Kurt Angle who said it was great to be back in Pittsburgh. The Street Profits interrupted and ask Angle for his help in their title defence at TakeOver: Toronto. Montez Ford then pulled some milk out of a cooler and offer it to Kurt. He declines, saying he promised his wife he wouldn’t do anything too crazy tonight. Ford asks if he’s Kurt Angle or Mike Kanellis, so Angle caves and agrees to drink some milk. Drew McIntyre interrupts and tries to confront Kurt, only for Angelo Dawkins to block him off. He reminded Angle what he did to him months ago and warned him to call his match down the middle tonight.
  • The Viking Raiders defeated two jobbers via pinfall.
  • They aired a Harley Race tribute video.
  • Cedric Alexander vs Drew McIntyre with Kurt Angle as special referee never happened as McIntyre attacked Alexander, and they brawl at ringside.
  • The lights then went out, and Bray Wyatt appeared. He put the mandible claw on Angle and laid him out.
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions Big E & Xavier Woods defeated Raw Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson via disqualification when Styles attacked New Day. Ricochet made the save.
  • AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson defeated Ricochet, Big E & Xavier Woods via pinfall.
  • A stagehand informed Joe that Reigns was on his way to the arena. Joe said Raw was officially shut down.
  • We see another replay of SmackDown as Joe heads down to ringside. Joe knew about “island time” but said this was getting ridiculous. He called out Reigns but he didn’t show. Joe grabbed a chair and sat down in the ring saying Raw wouldn’t continue until he got an apology. He gave Reigns until the count of three, but Reigns still didn’t show. Joe accused Reigns of being too afraid and threatened to keep the crowd waiting all night. A stagehand told Reigns had arrived at the parking lot so Joe left.
  • Joe went to the parking lot where Reigns arrived in his car. Joe and Reigns talked crap until Reigns suddenly jumped back into the front seat because a car drove into his vehicle.
  • The sedan sped away, then Joe kicked the Chevy door open and checked on Reigns. He was concerned, telling Reigns to stay down. He yelled for a medic as Jamie Noble showed up and asked: “What happened?”. Triple H then appeared as Reigns got out of the car but Triple H got him to sit back down.
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross defeated Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics, Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose and Asuka & Kairi Sane via pinfall to win the titles.
  • We then have MizTV for the contract signing of Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz. Miz introduced Ziggler as the pariah of WWE. Ziggler said he would rather be a pariah, doing what had to be done, instead of being an ass-kisser like the two of them. Ziggler said he’s been carrying the WWE on his back for the last 10 years, even when he wasn’t supposed to, and was the best thing to happen to pro wrestling since Michaels lost his smile and since Miz lost his balls. He said he will finally receive his adulation, and signs the contract.
  • He said Ziggler claimed he hasn’t gotten what he deserved but it wasn’t because of the fans, it was because of him. Miz says he can’t wait to beat him next week on RAW, with Ziggler looking confused. The Miz said he wasn’t facing him on SummerSlam and Ziggler stared down Michaels. Miz said it wasn’t him, it was this man.
  • Bill Goldberg then appeared to a huge reaction and hit the ring as Ziggler bailed. Goldberg signed the contract as the crowd chanted his name. Goldberg said “Guess what, son? You’re next!”. Michaels then superkicked Ziggler on the ramp to close.
