Tonight is the night! WWE Superstars will risk it all for a shot at the championship of their choosing, by grabbing that briefcase hanging at WWE Headquarters.
PRE SHOW
Jeff Hardy defeated Cesaro via Pinfall (Swanton Bomb)
The path to redemption has begun for Jeff Hardy. In a fantastic match by both men, Hardy battled through hip pain to defeat Sheamus’ former tag team partner.
MAIN CARD
After the preshow and some words from commentary, we are ready for the first match on the main show. We begin the show with The New Day defending their Smackdown Tag Team Titles.
The New Day defeated Lucha House Party, The Forgotten Sons, Miz and Morrison via Pinfall (Big Ending)
Just when you may have thought this could be the match The New Day lose their titles, they prove again why they are one of the greatest tag teams in history. The match had a lot of high flying moments thanks to Morrison and Lucha House Party. It also featured some attempts at interference thanks to Jaxson Ryker.
After the match we got a promo from Lacey Evans. Evans talked about how she was made by the US Marines and how that will help her tonight. While doing her makeup, Evans said she had been studying the blueprints of headquarters for the past two weeks. She warned Bayley that when she wins, she will have a Women’s Right with her name on it.
Drew McIntyre was then interviewed by Charly Caruso. He wished the moms of the world a Happy Mother’s Day and then spoke about his match against Seth Rollins.
After giving Rollins some props, McIntyre said he is missing the heart. McIntyre is ready to Claymore Kick Rollins tonight to prove he is ready to lead the company to the future.
Bobby Lashley defeated R-Truth via Pinfall (Spear)
Yes, this match was supposed to be MVP vs R-Truth, but you know anything can happen in WWE. Lashley came out and gave MVP the night off and made quick work of Truth.
We hear from King Corbin about the Money In The Bank match that is still to come. He goes on to list all of his recent accomplishments and just puts himself over.
Bayley defeated Tamina via Pinfall (Crucifix Pin)
Well, she found a way to keep her title yet again. Tamina had the match as good as won, but Sasha Banks made her presence known. Tamina chased Sasha around the ring, but this allowed Bayley time to rest. As soon as the moment was right, Bayley caught Tamina in the pin.
Tamina did try to attack Bayley after her victory, but Sasha put a stop to that.
We see a promo from Seth Rollins. He once again talked about how the WWE Championship and being the leader of the company is his destiny.
Braun Strowman defeated Bray Wyatt via Pinfall (Running Powerslam) to retain the Universal Championship
Strowman said Wyatt wasn’t in his head and he proved it tonight. Strowman even played a bit of mind games with Wyatt by putting on the Black Sheep mask towards the end of the match. Wyatt got so happy and emotional, the puppets from the Funhouse even were ringside, but it was all for nothing. Strowman stepped on the mask and power slammed Wyatt for the victory.
The Smackdown hacker makes his presence known with a short promo. We see all sorts of videos he has of different people on the Smackdown roster. He said people want to know his identity, could it happen soon? We’ll have to see.
A video package of what has gone on between Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins the past couple weeks is shown. It’s WWE Championship time.
Drew McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins via Pinfall (Claymore Kick)
Destiny was fulfilled, but for Drew McIntyre. Drew proved to everyone, especially Seth Rollins. McIntyre took everything Rollins had, and Rollins was brutal, but found a way to prevail.
After the match, McIntyre offered his hand to Rollins. Shockingly, Rollins shook his hand in a show of sportsmanship.
R-Truth was then interviewed. Truth wants his 24/7 Championship back….although Truth believes Tom Brady has the title.
Money In The Bank Matches
Women’s MITB Winner: Asuka
Men’s MITB Winner: Otis
I don’t even have the words for what we witnessed tonight. It was amazing and crazy. I don’t think anyone was prepared for what we watched. Asuka started the match off by jumping off a balcony to the rest of the women in the lobby. She also beat up Corbin, which was fantastic, before she pulled down the briefcase.
Otis won by, well what you could call a miracle. AJ and Corbin both had hold of the briefcase, but Elias made an appearance hitting Corbin causing him to lose hold of the case. AJ then bobbled the case and wound up dropping it….right to Otis’ waiting hands.
That’s the show folks!
