Tonight’s NXT features Triple H confronting Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, after they destroyed the Performance Center two weeks back.
This week Byron Saxton and Tom Phillips welcome us to Full Sail. They let us know the matches that were to take place at TakeOver Tampa, will now be on an upcoming episode of NXT.
Tyler Breeze defeated Austin Theory via Pinfall (Beauty Shot)
It looks like making fun of Breeze really didn’t work out well for Austin Theory. Theory tried to become the New King of selfies, but took his eyes off the prize. Breeze on the other hand proved he isn’t as much in the past as Theory may have thought.
Killian Dain defeated Tahuti Miles via Pinfall (Vader Bomb)
Miles gave it a valiant effort, but Dain was just too powerful. Although Miles stayed in the match much longer than anticipated, Dain used his frustrations to get him the victory.
Cameron Grimes defeated Tony Nese via Pinfall (Cave In)
Boy, NXT really packed this show with wrestling! It has been quite a number of months since Nese has been on NXT TV and this match with Grimes didn’t disappoint. Unfortunately for Nese, his NXT return didn’t go to plan. Grimes hit a quick Cave In and that’s all she wrote.
Io Shirai defeated Aliyah via Pinfall, this qualifies her for the #1 Contenders ladder match
Yes, this match was supposed to be Xia Li versus Aliyah. After Aliyah made her entrance, Xia was shown backstage in tears holding her leg. Aliyah wanted a call for a DQ, but Greg Hamilton got word of a replacement….Io Shirai.
After a commercial, we come back to the ring for a Keith Lee interview. Lee is asked about giving Dominik Dijakovic the Spirit Bomb after defeating Cameron Grimes. After going over the events, Lee says he owes Dijakovic an apology. Cue the entrance of Dijakovic.
Dijakovic doesn’t care about apologies, but he does care about the North American Championship. He says he has more respect for Lee than to attack him, but he says Lee took food off his family’s plate. Before he gets to continue, Damian Priest interrupts.
Priest talks about wanting a title shot because it would bring him more. Ya know, more money, girls, and fame. Lee tells him to bring it. This starts a brawl between all three men, but in the end Dijakovic takes out the other two with a dive to the outside.
We got to see the longest reigning NXT Champion, Adam Cole sitting poolside. Cole has been thinking about what has gone down between him and the Velveteen Dream. He said at first he let it fluster him, but he is Adam Cole and lists off reasons he shouldn’t be flustered.
According to Cole, Velveteen has done nothing to earn a title shot, but the Undisputed Era are itching for a chance at him. He offers Bobby Fish to Velveteen to prove that Velveteen is a loser.
Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch defeated Shane Thorne and Brendan Vink via Submission
Commentary reminded us Thorne and Vink were on RAW this past Monday. The Aussie team suffered the same fate as Monday though, as both men tapped out in a second straight loss for the team.
Candice LeRae defeated Kayden Carter via Submission (Garga-No Escape)
This match had a good back and forth pace. Both woman matched each other move for move and it was fun to watch! LeRae scored her spot in the ladder match, which will be in two weeks.
Matt Riddle defeated Roderick Strong via Pinfall (Bro Derek)
Of course this match was great, but it was the antics after the match that were most intriguing.
After securing the victory Riddle was attacked by two unknown men. Both were much bigger than him and with Pete Dunne currently not in the states, Riddle had no back up.
Apparently the two men are managed by Malcom Bivens (about time we see him on tv!) who says that they are the future NXT Tag Team Champions.
We are told about a second chance gauntlet match for the women’s division. Those not qualified for the ladder match will get one more opportunity to fill the last spot. Also next week, Keith Lee will defend the North American Title against Dominik Dijakovic, and Damien Priest.
Triple H is then in the ring to address Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Before he can really begin, Ciampa interrupts. Ciampa just wants to get straight to it and get Johnny out there.
Triple H makes it clear that there will be no physicality before asking Johnny to make his way to the ring. Johnny comes out saying he doesn’t know why he’s getting fined for destroying the PC, when Ciampa is the one who caused the damage.
Gargano continues his lists of complaints before Triple H says that the only reason the two are out there is because of him. If William Regal had his way, they’d both be fired. He goes on to say that he gets it, HBK and him went through something similar, but all of this has to have an end.
Both men say they don’t need anything but a ring, a ref, and a cameraman. Triple H gave them the opportunity to end it now, but Gargano said he needs two weeks. H said he will find a place and will get them there.
We end the show with all three men in the ring watching a promo video that clearly shows Killer Kross.
