With the NXT Tag Titles on the line and a visit from DX, NXT is sure to get interesting.
We start the show with a recap of last week’s championship matches.
After the recap, we get the entrance of NXT Tag Team Champions, Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher. Then Imperium make their entrance. It is NXT Tag Title time.
Imperium defeated Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher via Pinfall
After a miscue between Riddle and Thatcher, Thatcher abandoned the match. Riddle tried to go it alone, but the teamwork of Imperium was too much. New Tag Team Champions it is!
Before commercial, we find out what cruiserweight matches are to come tonight.
After a commercial, McKenzie Mitchell tries to get a word in with Timothy Thatcher. He said all he wanted to do was tap people out, and be a champion. What he didn’t want to do was play games.
Riddle then came backstage. Needless to say, things escalated and the two had to be separated by officials.
Tegan Nox defeated Indi Hartwell via Pinfall (Shiniest Wizard)
Hartwell was pretty aggressive in trying to get the upset win. Nox made the comeback victory.
We heard from Rhea Ripley. Ripley said Io had her shot, but failed…now its Ripley’s turn. If Io doesn’t agree, Ripley would beat it into her. Ripley then told Charlotte Flair, they’ve only just begun.
Back from commercial, we see Matt Riddle video chatting with William Regal. Once they hang up, Riddle told McKenzie Mitchell that he got what he wanted…a match with Tim Thatcher later tonight. Before being able to continue, Riddle is attacked by Thatcher.
Before his match, Jake Atlas is interviewed by Byron Saxton. Atlas said he is in a must win situation. He hopes Drake Maverick can also pull off a victory so they can meet each other again. He stops himself from thinking too far ahead and heads to the ring.
Jake Atlas defeated Tony Nese via Pinfall (Rainbow DDT)
Tony Nese really had nothing to lose here, he was already mathematically out of the tournament. Nese tried to take Atlas out of the tournament as well, but failed.
We then see the Undisputed Era catching up with each other on Zoom. It is the first time we’ve seen Kyle in awhile. All four members agreed that Roderick Strong will take care of Dexter Lumis.
After a commercial, we got a video promo, Scarlett and Karrion Kross. Kross said Tomasso Ciampa was the first, but he won’t be the last. Tick Tock.
We hear from Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. We gain a bit more of insight on their partnership. Kai said that she was in the shadow of Tegan Nox. She then said that Gonzalez is the only person she can trust and has her back. Gonzalez said they had both have been outcasts and now they are ready to hurt people.
Isaiah Swerve Scott is interviewed about his upcoming match. It is win or go home for Swerve. He said if he was winless in this tournament, he would quit wrestling. He then said he was off to defend his house.
DX is then shown and announced that on June 7th there will be an NXT TakeOver. This TakeOver will honor the 25th anniversary of the PPV: In Your House.
Cameron Grimes defeated Finn Balor via Pinfall (Cave In)
Although Grimes started off the match pretty aggressively, but he did not win this match without help. Damian Priest interfered when the ref wasn’t looking.
After the match Priest continues to attack Balor. He puts a chair on Balor’s throat and sits there. To live forever he has to take out a Prince. Priest then admitted he was the one to attack Balor three weeks ago. Damian Priest is the snake!
Jack Gallagher defeated Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott via Pinfall
This match certainly didn’t go to plan for Swerve. Tony Nese attacked Swerve upon his entrance, he definitely didn’t like Swerve’s earlier comments. Swerve never really had a chance to come back.
Kayden Carter defeated Aliyah via Submission
During the match Robert Stone came out to scout Aliyah…that didn’t really go to plan though. Aliyah spent too much time showboating, which cost her to lose the match. When Aliyah tried to get him to stay and talk after her loss, he shrugged her off.
Another dinner with the Garganos! Johnny began dinner by talking about how much they have accomplished since the last time we were at their dinner table. He showed highlights of his match with Dominik Dijakovic, he showed him what happens when people speak his name.
Then Candice LeRae complained about Mia Yim getting a shot at Charlotte Flair. LeRae was dealing with Kacy Catanzaro (who is not a ninja), while Yim continues to come up short. LeRae wants to show Yim what happens to those who don’t earn it.
Gargano then brought up Keith Lee, which I don’t know if that’s the best idea. He said the fans will turn on Lee like they did to him.
Matt Riddle defeated Timothy Thatcher via Pinfall (Rollup)
The former tag team partners really brought it to each other. Thatcher really seemed to have the control for majority of the match, but Bro just outsmarted him.
Unfortunately Bro didn’t get to relish in his victory. Thatcher attacked him right after. We ended the show with Bro tapping out to Thatcher because of the Fujiwara Armbar.
