The show began with a rundown of what to expect tonight by commentary.
Then we got the entrance of the WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre. McIntyre reminded us that he allowed his challenger Dolph Ziggler to decide the stipulation for their match at Extreme Rules. McIntyre gave us a rundown of matches that Ziggler could pick, but said the end result will still be the same…Drew McIntyre would still be WWE Champion.
Ziggler refuses to reveal the stipulation of the match tonight, but he reminds Drew of the trail of people he has stabbed in the back on his way to the top. He then brought out a guest, Heath Slater.
Slater reminds Drew of everything they have been through and that he was there for Drew when he released, yet Drew hasn’t been there for him. He also reminds Drew that he promised him a title match on the Bump, initially, he is apprehensive but after Heath antagonises him, he gives him a match.
Drew McIntyre defeated Heath Slater via Pinfall (Claymore)
McIntyre and Slater are in the ring as we return from the break. A distraction from Ziggler allows Slater a brief flurry of offense but he is then hit with the Claymore as Drew picks up the win. Ziggler enters the ring and attacks Slater after the match but McIntyre saves his former teammate, allowing the two men to have an emotional embrace in the ring.
Sasha Banks and Bayley are in the ring, discussing their title matches at Extreme Rules as well as Bayley’s match against Asuka tonight. Asuka interrupts Banks and brings out a returning Kairi Sane, setting up a match between the Boss and the Pirate Princess.
Kairi Sane beats Sasha Banks by DQ
Kairi showed no signs of ringrust in her return, hitting an excellent hurricanrana before locking in an Octopus submission. The finish came as Sane avoided a Meteorer from Banks and locks in a modified Boston Crab before the submission is broken up by Bayley to end the match in a DQ. The Golden Role Models attack Asuka at ringside after the match, but she is saved by Sane with the Insane Elbow.
We are then shown a recap of Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy’s attack on Humberto Carillo. As the recap ends, we cut to backstage where Aleister Black has been attacked by Rollins and Murphy and is wearing the mask of Rey Mysterio as Carillo was last week after the attack by Rollins.
Rollins is then Kevin Owens’ guest on the KO Show. The two discuss their Wrestlemania match, Rollins making reference to the Ankle Injury sustained by Owens during their clash, whilst KO gives Seth a KOMania shirt, the same one he wore at Mania.
Seth tells Owens that he isn’t there for him, but to challenge Rey Mysterio to a match who comes to ringside with Dominik. Rey accepts and Owens offers to be his tag team partner against Rollins and Murphy tonight, with the winner of the match deciding the stipulation of their match at Extreme Rules.
Rey Mysterio and Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins and Murphy via Pinfall (Frog Splash)
Mysterio and Murphy open the match, with Rollins desperately tagging out whenever Mysterio is tagged in as he avoids facing him one-on-one. Rollins and Murphy antagonise Dominik at ringside, daring him to attack him and cause a DQ, attacking his eye when he doesn’t before Rey chases them off.
Mysterio is in control at the end of the match, having Rollins set for a 619, but he escapes and threatens to attack Dominik again. Aleister Black comes out to save Dominik and as the referee is distracted, the son of Rey Mysterio attacks Murphy’s eye, allowing Mysterio to hit a 619 and a frog splash for the win.
After the match, Mysterio says that he and Rollins will face off in an eye-for-an-eye match at Extreme Rules.
We then get a recap of MVP beating the United States Champion Apollo Crews on Raw last week and we are informed by Charly Caruso that Crews is out of action following Bobby Lashley’s post-match attack.
MVP proclaims himself to be the real United States Champion, having pinned Crews last week and he unveils the new United States Championship belt before Lashley puts it around his waist. The two are interrupted by Ricochet and Cedric Alexander who stand up for Apollo Crews, setting up a tag team match.
Bobby Lashley and MVP defeated Ricochet and Cedric Alexander via Pinfall (Spear)
Ricochet and Alexander look to chop down Lashley with their speed and excellent tag team manoeuvres, but Lashley continuously overpowers the pair. Alexander hits MVP with a great Tornado DDT for a two count, but Lashley is tagged in and wins with a devastating spear.
Lashley locks the Full Nelson onto Alexander after the match, but Ricochet saves him and they escape.
Randy Orton, Angel Garza and Andrade defeated The Viking Raiders and Big Show via Pinfall (RKO)
After the break, Randy Orton, Angel Garza and Andrade faced the Viking Raiders and Big Show. The World’s Largest Athlete controlled early on, throwing Garza around like a rag doll. Garza tags in Andrade and he manages to gain control over Erik, but the Garza and Andrade begin arguing. Orton calls Garza out of the ring and begins to confront him ringside, telling him to get it together as he menacingly holds his throat. The match finishes as Erik and Ivar look for the Viking Experience on Garza, but he is saved by Andrade before Orton hits the RKO for the win.
Before the break, the IIconics mock Ruby Riott’s style and her lack of friends, with Liv Morgan MIA, ahead of Billie Kay’s match with Ruby tonight.
MVP then speaks to Cedric Alexander about being Ricochet’s sidekick, saying that he and Lashley are in the hurting business, whilst Cedirc is in the catering business and will be spending the rest of career in catering.
Billie Kay defeated Ruby Riott via Pinfall
Ruby Riott begins to take control in the match with some interesting offence, but she is distracted by Peyton Royce whilst on the top rope. This allows Billie Kay to hit her finisher and pin Riott, leaving her at 0-12 since her return to television.
Sasha and Bayley are being interviewed backstage before the main event. Sasha accepts a Tag Team Championship match against the Kabuki Warriors next week on behalf of the Golden Role Models.
Asuka defeated Bayley via Pinfall
Before the match, Nikki Cross is brought onto commentary to watch her Extreme Rules opponent Bayley. Cross has security alongside her to prevent her getting involved in the match and attacking Bayley.
Asuka looks for an arm bar early on but Bayley escapes to the outside and pushes Cross. Nikki tries to fight back but is held back by security and taken to the back during the break.
Bayley throws Asuka out of the ring and distracts the referee to allow Sasha to attack her ringside, but Sane is able to prevent the Boss’ efforts. Asuka fires up, hitting a number of strikes and a Code Breaker before a hip attack, getting just a two count.
As Bayley and Sasha mock Asuka at ringside, including throwing water in her face, Bayley is distracted by Nikki Cross reappearing behind the plexiglass. This allows Asuka to lock in the Asuka Lock, Bayley looks for the roll up victory but Asuka gets the lock back in.
Banks looks to break up the submission as Bayley did earlier in the night, but is cut off by a spear from Sane, allowing Asuka to get the pin.
