WWE: RAW Results | May 3rd 2021 | Is It McIntyre or Strowman?

It is a night of tag team championship matches! Will AJ Styles and Omos prove that Wrestlemania was for real? And how is the All Mighty feeling after last week?

After seeing a recap of last week’s events, we saw a video from earlier in the day of MVP chatting with Adam Pearce. To determine who will face Bobby Lashley later tonight they decide to flip a coin.

Enter in Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman. After a little back and forth between the two men, Strowman picked tails. Strowman will face Lashley later tonight.

In the Thunderdome, the RAW tag team champions are back! Finally! After almost a month of celebrating their championship victory, Omos and new Grand Slam Champion, AJ Styles, hyped up their Wrestlemania victory. Then of course Styles asked if we missed them, I missed the RAW tag team titles personally.

Before Styles could continue on about where they have been the past month, The New Day interrupted! Kofi Kingston came out and said he wasn’t even sure that the champions still worked here because it had been so long. To The New Day, the champions taking a month long vacation is disrespectful to the tag team division. When The New Day were champions they didn’t take vacations because they had too much respect for the division and they had a high work ethic.

When Kofi Kingston won the WWE Championship, he showed up on RAW the next night and he wasn’t even a RAW Superstar! While the new champions have won one match and thought that granted them a vacation, that isn’t what The New Day is about. Xavier Woods makes it clear that they are ready to become 12 time tag team champions.

Omos and AJ Styles defeated The New Day via Pinfall (Phenomenal Forearm)

Unfortunately for The New Day, regaining the tag team championships may take awhile. While it looked like Styles was going to begin the match, he immediately tagged in Omos. Although New Day was able to get in good offense, Omos and Styles’ game plan was just too much to overcome.

Backstage Sonya Deville was talking to Charlotte Flair. Deville told Flair she would make a note of her concerns. Then Adam Pearce came in. Pearce said he appreciates Deville’s input but she is getting out of line.

Then we went to commercial break.

When we returned from commercial break we got a promo video for……the returning Eva Marie. She no longer has red hair, but pink hair. Eva said she wants to be someone others can look up to and she is back where her journey started.

Backstage Kayla Braxton interviewed Bobby Lashley and MVP. MVP said Braun Strowman’s luck has run out tonight, but he should consider himself lucky to be in the ring with The All Mighty. He went on to say it does not matter if it is Strowman or Drew McIntyre in the ring with Lashley because they just don’t compare. Lashley said he could lose his WWE Championship without being pinned at the PPV, but he is not going to let that happen.

After a replay of Elias, Jaxson Ryker, Miz, and Morrison getting attacked with tomatoes, we went backstage. Elias and Ryker looked to have a clear view of The New Day and were ready with their own tomatoes. Unfortunately for them, they threw without realizing Randy Orton was walking in front of The New Day. Bad move.

Charlotte Flair made her entrance to the ring as we went to another commercial break.

Charlotte Flair defeated Dana Brooke via Submission (Figure Eight)

After a hand in her face, Brooke got pretty angry and took the fight to Flair. While she began strong, it was not long before Flair regained control of the match from Brooke. After a kick to the face, Brooke was thrown out of the ring! Brooke got in a little more offense, but the Queen shut that down quick.

After the match Flair did not want to break the Figure Eight, so Mandy Rose came in the ring to save her tag team partner. Rose sent Flair to the outside and as soon as that happened Sonya Deville’s music hit.

As Deville walked down to the ring, we went to commercial break.

Returning from break, Deville informed Flair that the RAW Women’s Championship match at Wrestlemania Backlash will now be a triple threat match. This announcement came after Flair made her case as to why she should be apart of the match, or complained about why she wasn’t in the match (however you want to look at it).

The news of the triple threat match did not sit well with the champion. After Deville made the announcement, Rhea Ripley’s music hit.

Ripley said she has put up with a lot when it comes to Flair, but this is absolute crap. The reason why Flair wasn’t in the match at Wrestlemania and no one wants to see her in the match at Backlash is that no one likes Flair. Ripley is confident that she can beat Asuka one on one because she already did, but a triple threat match is unfair.

Enter Asuka.

Asuka said it doesn’t matter. She can beat Flair. She can beat Ripley. Asuka is ready to become RAW Women’s Champion.

Flair said that while Ripley is walking into Wrestlemania Backlash, she won’t be walking out as champion. Ripley then got in Deville’s face about her decision. Then chaos! Asuka was left as the lone woman in the ring out of the three competitors in the championship match.

Backstage Kayla Braxton interviewed Humberto Carrillo. We took a look back to what has been going on between Carrillo and Sheamus. Carrillo said he is not afraid of Sheamus and will challenge him again. Before he could really finish though, Sheamus attacked him from behind!

Miz and Morrison made their entrance to the ring as we went to yet another commercial break.

When we returned from break, a furious Adam Pearce confronted Sonya Deville.

Damian Priest defeated John Morrison via Pinfall (Hit The Lights)

Priest was able to take down Morrison quickly with some hard strikes. After some mat grappling, Morrison was able to fight his way out of a headlock, but was just sent to the outside after a clothesline. Miz tried to run interference, but only kept the referee’s attention for them to miss Morrison’s pin attempt.

Lucha House Party defeated Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander via Pinfall (Elbow Drop)

After the match Alexander got a microphone. Alexander was furious. He said after being champions with the Hurt Business, they have truly gone downhill as a tag team. He said he understands now why they were kicked out of the Hurt Business. Alexander said he is in his prime and refuses to waste anymore of his time on tagging with Benjamin.

Angel Garza defeated Drew Gulak via Pinfall (Wing Clipper)

Garza was in control of the match right away. Of course Gulak was able to get in some moves, but it just wasn’t enough.

After the match, Garza continued his humiliation of Gulak by putting the rose in Gulak’s trunks. Then Garza proceeded to kick Gulak right in the ass.

Randy Orton and Riddle defeated Elias and Jaxson Ryker via Pinfall (Floating Bro)

Elias and Ryker looked to keep Orton away from Riddle, but Orton used vintage moves and tricks to tag in Riddle. Orton eventually tagged back into the match after Riddle was getting beat up pretty good. After a vintage DDT by Orton, he tagged Riddle back in. Riddle to the top rope, a RKO to Ryker, and that was all she wrote.

Sheamus defeated Mansoor via DQ

Humberto Carrillo is done with Sheamus’ disrespect. After being attacked yet again, Carrillo attacked Sheamus during his match with the newly signed to RAW, Mansoor.

Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax defeated Lana and Naomi via Submission (Kirifuda Clutch)

This was a quick match and rather disappointing. Naomi was pulled out of the ring by Nia, leaving Lana on her own to take on Baszler. Lana did have a pin on Baszler, which would have gotten her the victory, but thanks to Reginald the referee missed the pin.

After the match, Bobby Lashley and MVP made their entrance to the ring. Then we took a commercial break.
