After a winning night at Survivor Series, what will be in store for the RAW roster tonight?
We began RAW with a video showing us how Drew McIntyre was able to regain the WWE Championship.
Then we saw Adam Pearce in the ring with the victorious men of RAW’s Survivor Series team. Pearce was going to give each man an opportunity to state their case as to why they should be in line for a WWE Championship match.
AJ Styles was slated to be the first to talk, being the Captain of Team RAW and all, but Sheamus interrupted. Sheamus made it clear once again that Styles was not his captain and then congratulated Drew McIntyre on becoming a two time WWE Champion. Then Sheamus tried to say he was deserving of a championship match because he was the most valuable player last night.
Styles argued that Sheamus was going to use his friendship with McIntyre to get a championship match. Before he could continue, Keith Lee made his case by saying that he saved Styles from elimination AND eliminated Smackdown’s team captain.
Then Riddle got on the mic. He said he pinned King Corbin last night, which to him meant he got the crown. Now Riddle is after McIntyre’s sword…it was weird. The Survivor Series code names were brought back up and Sheamus was not thrilled to be called fire face again.
Braun Strowman got very angry about being “last but not least.” He wound up head butting Adam Pearce down before we went to commercial.
Back from break we saw how The New Day versus The Hurt Business for the RAW Tag Team Championships came about.
The Hurt Business defeated The New Day via Countout
The Hurt Business seemed to be in control of the match from the beginning, with Shelton Benjamin overpowering Xavier Woods. Once Woods was able to get back into the match and tag Kofi Kingston in, Kofi changed the course of the match. Kofi was going for a move on the top rope when Cedric Alexander knocked him off. Woods went to check on Kofi, but at the same time Benjamin left the ring and the referee began the count.
After the match MVP got on the mic and said that it wasn’t going to go down like that. He asked the referee to restart the match.
The New Day defeated The Hurt Business via Pinfall (Sunset Flip)
Yes, yes they really did restart the match. Just like last week The New Day were able to defeat The Hurt Business.
After the match, Charly Caruso caught up with Adam Pearce. Pearce said the doctor told him to take it easy for the week. We then found out that he had Braun Strowman escorted from the building. While he doesn’t know the repercussions Strowman may face, Pearce said he hoped Strowman got fired and we never see him again.
Before we can find out what announcement Pearce was going to make concerning the WWE Championship, Bobby Lashley showed up. Lashley wanted to make his case on why he should get the opportunity. Then we went to commercial break.
Returning from break, we once again saw Adam Pearce. Caruso still was unable to get an answer on the WWE Championship news because Randy Orton came up to Pearce. Pearce and Orton then had a stare down as we went back to ringside.
After a recap of what happened in the Women’s Survivor Series match, we went backstage where Lana was being interviewed. Lana said she was surprised but feeling on top of the world after last night. She was then asked if she thought a RAW Women’s Championship match with Asuka could be in the cards. Lana just wanted to enjoy the moment.
Back to Adam Pearce again…Pearce said his solution is a series of three singles matches. The winners of those matches will be in a triple threat match next week to determine the new number one contender to the WWE Championship.
The first of those matches? Riddle versus Sheamus.
Riddle defeated Sheamus via Pinfall
A hard hitting contest between the two rivals. Each man thought they had the match won at a few different points. Vicious knee strikes, punches, and everything else the men could think of were thrown, but in the end Riddle was able to shock the Celtic Warrior.
Backstage Asuka found Lana walking backstage. Asuka said she had heard Lana wanted to challenge her to a RAW Women’s Championship match. Lana tried to explain she wasn’t even thinking of challenging Asuka, but Asuka didn’t listen. Asuka accepted the challenge and said she would see Lana in the ring later.
Before a commercial, we saw the Rambling Rabbit in the Firefly Funhouse, he was drawing on a picture of Nikki Cross’ face.
Returning from break it was time for the Firefly Funhouse. Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss said the show was about something truly evil and disgusting….friendship. According to Wyatt, friends always let you down (Wyatt seemed to be thinking of Randy Orton during this).
Soon a frog appeared, the Friendship Frog and he believed friendships are meant to last forever. Wyatt then suggested Bliss show the frog what she is going to do to Nikki Cross later tonight. Unfortunately for the frog it was nothing good, Bliss absolutely destroyed the frog. After we got a small montage dedicated to the Friendship Frog’s life.
Wyatt then cracked a joke and that was the end of the Funhouse.
Asuka made her entrance to the ring and we went to commercial break.
Asuka defeated Lana via DQ
Thanks to the Women’s Tag Team Champions interference, Lana lost her opportunity. As Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler sat and watched the match from commentary, Asuka ended up in front of them. Jax couldn’t believe Asuka hadn’t put Lana away yet and yelled at her. Soon Asuka grabbed a water bottle and splashed water on the champs. This led to Jax and Baszler retaliating.
Just when it seemed Jax was going to put Asuka through the table, Lana made the save! Lana and Asuka looked to get the hell out of dodge, but the tag team champions got on the mic. They challenged Lana and Asuka to a match.
Asuka and Lana defeated Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax via Pinfall
Lana seemed to be holding her own for a bit, but Baszler did give her a lot of trouble. Once Lana was able to tag in Asuka, Asuka went wild! Asuka was dishing out a lot of punishment, but after a knee strike she needed a tag. Unfortunately Jax took Lana off the apron and tried to put Lana through the table again. LANA OUTSMARTED HER!
Backstage Matt Riddle ran into MVP. Riddle tried to pitch MVP some business ideas, but it didn’t go well. Then we went to commercial break.
Keith Lee defeated Bobby Lashley via DQ
After a hard fought contest, MVP inserted himself into the match by attacking Lee. Lee before the DQ, had been able to break the Hurt Lock and hold off Lashley on multiple occassions.
After the match, Lee delivered an elbow to MVP and then celebrated his victory.
We then got a video recapping the friendship, or well downfall of said friendship, of Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss. Then Nikki Cross was interviewed. Cross said she didn’t give up on Alexa Bliss, but Bliss gave up on her. She said she had tried everything she could to get Bliss to see what was going on, but Bliss just wants the Fiend. Now Cross is sick and tired of worrying about her, tonight she is going to beat The Fiend out of Bliss.
Cross made her entrance to the the ring before another commercial break.
Alexa Bliss defeated Nikki Cross via Pinfall (Sister Abigail)
Bliss started off the match like it was all fun and games, which really got on Cross’ nerves. Cross was able to beat Bliss down pretty good, even to the point of “tears.” Unfortunately Cross let her mixed emotions get the better of her and tried to comfort Bliss. The tears wound up being a diversion and Bliss hit Sister Abigail.
We saw more Undertaker footage from his final farewell. Then Randy Orton made his entrance and we went to yet another commercial break.
AJ Styles defeated Randy Orton via Pinfall (Phenomenal Forearm)
It had looked like Orton was well on his way to moving on to the triple threat match next week, but The Fiend had other plans. The Fiend distracted Orton twice during this match, the final time allowed Styles to get in place for the Phenomenal Forearm.
RAW ended with Orton looking around the ring as The Fiend’s laughter filled the Thunderdome.
