After retaining his WWE Championship last night, how will Drew McIntyre open Monday Night RAW?
RAW opened with the entrances of the WWE Legends who helped McIntyre last night: Ric Flair, Big Show, Christian, and Shawn Michaels. HBK welcomed us to RAW and then introduced WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre.
Once McIntyre was in the ring, he gave a little background on the history he had with each legend. Then he talked about what brought them all back together…Randal Keith Orton. The good news? After the war at Clash of Champions, McIntyre retained. *Virtual Pop*
Then HBK said the legends were out there to thank McIntyre for kicking Orton’s ass. Apparently the plan for last night came together while each legend was recovering from Orton’s acts. They hoped McIntyre wasn’t upset that they showed up to get their revenge. If he was, blame Ric Flair.
Randy Orton then interrupted the party by showing up on the tron. Orton said he hoped McIntyre was enjoying his moment because it wouldn’t last. According to Orton, this thing between them isn’t over until Orton says.
If McIntyre thought they went through hell last night, McIntyre apparently has another thing coming. Orton said he won’t be finished with McIntyre until he gets the WWE Championship. McIntyre guess that Orton was going to beg for another opportunity. Of course Orton wouldn’t do that, but he did say he is a 13 time champion and that’s why he’ll be given a title opportunity. Orton said he was there tonight to remind McIntyre and everyone in the ring that there is a price to pay when you cross the Legend Killer.
Orton then left the building. McIntyre took the opportunity to talk about the kind of champion he wants to be. He said he would put his title on the line tonight because thats the kind of champion he wants to be. The open challenge was issued to anyone who McIntyre has not faced yet.
After, highlights from Zelina Vega and Asuka’s match last night were shown. Then we went backstage where Vega was preparing for her rematch.
Kayla Braxton then came up to interview Vega. Vega said she was just getting started and would prove tonight that she is ready for Asuka. Tonight though? Asuka won’t be ready for her.
Asuka came up and said she hopes Vega is ready to lose again. The two got in each other’s face and had to be broken up as we went to commercial break.
Asuka defeated Zelina Vega via Submission (Asuka Lock)
Vega definitely went for broke in this one. She went at Asuka right off the bat and once again focused on Asuka’s injured arm. Vega pulled off an excellent modified grounded octopus submission, but once again Asuka proved Vega wasn’t ready for her. After a bit more back and forth action, Asuka was able to stop a moonsault attempt by Vega and then lock in the Asuka Lock.
We then went backstage where Big Show, Ric Flair, Christian, and Shawn Michaels were seen playing poker. Then we went to commercial break.
Returning from break, Zelina Vega was being helped to the back and Andrade was in the ring yelling at her. “You are nothing without me.” He said Vega blamed him for everything, but now looking at her? She’s been beaten by Asuka twice. Andrade also acknowledged Angel Garza’s injury.
Apparently Andrade was the glue holding the group together. He then said he was the greatest in WWE and laid out an open challenge of his own. The challenge was answered by….KEITH LEE.
Keith Lee defeated Andrade via Pinfall (Spirit Bomb)
It looks like Andrade’s quest for a fresh start as the greatest superstar in WWE will have to wait for another day. While he did get a few shots on Keith Lee, it wasn’t near enough. Lee more or less manhandled Andrade.
Before another commercial break, an incident involving the Hurt Business from earlier in the day was shown. A member of the WWE crew sat with MVP and Shelton Benjamin in catering, to which the two men were shocked. Bobby Lashley then came up and bullied him away from the table.
Returning from commercial we saw last week’s shenanigans with the 24/7 Championship. Then R-Truth was shown backstage playing chess with Little Jimmy when a ninja appeared to hand him a letter.
The letter was from Akira Tozawa, who was apparently eaten by a shark, and in thanked Truth for their battles. The ninja then gave Truth Tozawa’s black belt, but of course Tozawa did not get devoured by a shark. He came out from under a table and pinned Truth!
New 24/7 Champion….Akira Tozawa!
But of course that wasn’t the end! The ninja hit Tozawa with a briefcase and pinned Tozawa! The ninja revealed himself to be none other than…..
Drew Gulak became the New 24/7 Champion!
Unfortunately Gulak didn’t stay prepared and was hit by Truth with the briefcase!
R-Truth became 24/7 Champion for the 41st time!
A video of what happened between Seth Rollins and the Mysterio family last week was shown.
After the video Seth Rollins was seen walking up to Murphy, who was in the middle of something on his phone. Murphy quickly put his phone down and stood up to be hugged by Rollins. Rollins asked Murphy what was wrong, especially since the night was beautiful.
Rollins then brought up that it was a huge night because the Mysterios would be on King’s Court. He told Murphy to lighten up because it would be a big night for the both of them. Then Rollins noticed that Murphy was in his wrestling gear and apparently not scheduled for a match, so he told Murphy to go change into his suit. After Murphy walked away, Rollins noticed he left behind his phone and took it.
Then we went to another commercial break
When we returned from break it was time for King’s Court with the Mysterio Family.
Once the Mysterios entered the ring, King asked Rey to comment on what happened last week. Rey said that Seth Rollins can’t control his own house and that is why he is going after the Mysterios. He said it is obvious that Aalyah and Dominik are his kids.
Rey said that his kids have been his whole world since they’ve been born and it takes a truly evil person to make up lies like Rollins has. Dominik then told his dad this has all gone on for way too long. The next time Dom sees Rollins he said he would put an end to this.
King then tried to get things settled down and asked Aalyah how she was feeling after last week. She said she was still upset about the events of last week. She addressed what happened with Murphy last week by saying she didn’t go looking for him, but he came up to her.
Aalyah then said she doesn’t know what to think of Murphy, which seemed to throw the rest of the family off. She seemed to save it by saying that she knows that whoever surrounds themselves around Seth Rollins needs to reevaluate.
After calling Rollins a fraud, he interrupted King’s Court by appearing on the tron. Rollins said he understood that he was the last person that wanted to see, but what he had to tell them was important. He said one of the Mysterios wasn’t being 100% honest. Rollins accused Aalyah of not being honest about how she feels about his disciple Murphy.
Then he showed proof in the form of messages between Murphy and Aalyah. Mics dropped in the ring and Rey looked pissed. Aalyah yelled at her dad that Murphy wasn’t like Rollins before leaving the ring.
The rest of the family followed her, while Murphy came up to Rollins angry at what he did. Rollins said Murphy did this to himself. Murphy and Rollins looked like they were about to fight, when Dominik Mysterio attacked Murphy.
Back at ringside we got the entrance of Natalya and Lana before going to break.
When we returned from break we found out Dominik Mysterio would now be facing Murphy tonight. Then we returned to the ring.
Nattie and Lana said they would stand out in the ring all night until Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler were stripped of the Women’s Tag Team Championships. According to Nattie the championships should be theirs. Lana said the championships should just be handed to them because the reason the titles exist is because of them.
Adam Pearce then interrupted and said that Jax and Baszler would not be stripped of the titles. If Nattie and Lana wanted competition to climb up the ladder to the titles, he had that for him. Pearce then introduced Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke (who now is on RAW too).
Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke defeated Natalya and Lana via Pinfall
Natalya and Dana Brooke started the match, where Brooke was able to execute quick tags with Rose. The match was…interesting to say the least. Rose got the pinfall after a knee strike on Lana.
After the match commentary took us back to what happened between Kevin Owens and Aleister Black last week.
Then Black cut a promo. He pointed to his bad eye and said the word negligence. Then he asked Kevin Owens if he was a good man because Black said he always thought good men don’t let bad things happen. Black brought up that KO apologized for not being there for him because he was with his family.
Apparently family represents cruelty to Black. Black took off his eye covering, which revealed his right eye was now black in color, and said he would not forget the things KO has done.
Before another commercial, Kevin Owens made his entrance to the ring.
Returning from break, we checked in on the Legend’s Lounge where the Street Profits joined them.
Kevin Owens defeated Aleister Black via DQ
Black, who now has new music, could not keep control of his temper. Throughout the match the ref kept giving Black warnings, which of course Black responded back with attitude. While KO was up against the ropes, Black continued his strikes. Upon a back swing he elbowed the ref, which caused the DQ.
Black was not thrilled with the ref and almost couldn’t believe he got DQ’d. When he turned around after yelling at the ref, KO hit him with a Stunner!
Backstage Mustafa Ali was coming out of The Hurt Business’ locker room as MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin were walking towards it. Ali said it was a mistake and he just got lost. MVP didn’t like the answer and slapped Ali. Ricochet and Apollo Crews showed up real fast. Apparently the six men will see each other in the ring later.
After a Connor’s Cure video, we went to yet another commercial break.
R-Truth defeated Drew Gulak and Akira Tozawa to retain the 24/7 Championship via Pinfall (Attitude Adjustment)
Yes you are reading that right, R-Truth retained his baby using his childhood hero’s move! While Gulak and Tozawa attempted to work together for a bit, it of course failed. Truth was able to get one over on both men and quickly ran off after his victory!
Backstage Charly Caruso interviewed Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke. Rose said that through her ups and down, Brooke has always been there for her. Brooke said Rose has been knocked down a few times, but always fights back. While they know the Riott Squad are next in line to the Women’s Tag Team Championships, after that Rose and Brooke are coming for the titles.
We then saw Dominik Mysterio preparing for his match before going to commercial break.
Murphy defeated Dominik Mysterio via Pinfall (Roll up)
This one quickly turned into a brawl, as both men had a lot to be angry about. Dominik had a quick start and soon the match was taken to the outside. While the ref tried to keep control of the match, it was almost impossible. After another time to the outside of the ring, Dominik found a kendo stick. Before he could use it Aalyah came out to try and stop him. Aalyah’s presence actually was the reason Dominik lost.
After the match, Dom was able to hit Murphy a few times with the kendo stick, but again Aalyah begged him to stop. While Murphy got away, Aalyah told Dom again that Murphy wasn’t like Seth. Dom yelled at her that he was doing this to protect the family and their legacy. Aalyah said it wasn’t necessary. Then Dom said their dad was right and she was naive. Aalyah slapped him.
We then went backstage where The Hurt Business was on their way to the ring. MVP threw a water bottle at a janitor before we went to commercial.
Returning from commercial, Dolph Ziggler was seen talking to Adam Pearce about the WWE Championship Open Challenge. Ziggler said he has the perfect person in mind. After clarifying that it wasn’t him, Pearce said they could discuss the idea in his office.
Before their match, MVP gave a message to Apollo Crews. MVP said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. He said something was wrong with Crews because he keeps making the same mistakes.
After Cedric Alexander’s slip up last week against Crews, they made the decision to send Alexander to Hurt Business Boot Camp. Then MVP listed off all of Crews’ recent losses to them.
Ali, Ricochet, and Crews made their entrance and then the lights flickered after a little braw before the bell. Retribution’s logo appeared and The Hurt Business stood ready for them in the ring. Then? Commercial break.
Mustafa Ali, Ricochet, and Apollo Crews defeated The Hurt Business via Pinfall (450 Splash)
A hard fought contest, where the action was all over the place. Ricochet and Crews took out Lashley and Benjamin, leaving just MVP and Mustafa Ali the last two standing. After a Satellite DDT, Ali went to the top rope and ended the match.
We went backstage one last time to the Legend’s Lounge to see Ric Flair win everyone’s money. Then back to commercial break.
When we came back from break we got another stellar hype video for Bianca Belair. This time she was beating people at track and field.
Back at commentary, we were shown a video about Retribution and the destruction they have caused.
Before going back to commercial, Drew McIntyre made his entrance.
Upon returning, McIntyre was waiting for someone to step up to the challenge. Then Dolph Ziggler’s music hit. After Ziggler came out he told McIntyre this would be special and pointed to the entrance…..GLORIOUS! Robert Roode came out to challenge Drew McIntyre!
Drew McIntyre defeated Robert Roode via Pinfall (Claymore Kick)
Roode was smart and attacked McIntyre’s injured leg early on, I mean if the leg is hurt it’d be harder to hit the Claymore right? A good game plan, that at first McIntyre was able to fight off. McIntyre though brought Ziggler in the ring at one point, leaving Roode able to chop block McIntyre’s leg. Roode almost had the champion pinned a few times, but McIntyre wasn’t giving up easily. McIntyre made a comeback after blocking a Glorious DDT.
As McIntyre was celebrating in the ring, we went backstage and saw a janitor rolling his cart around. All of a sudden he stopped and took a steel chair from the cart and began walking towards the Legend’s Lounge. Once the janitor got to the door, he took off his gloves and mask revealing himself to be Randy Orton!
Orton then put on goggles, which happened to be night vision goggles, and then entered the room. The legends were shocked! Orton turned out the lights and all we heard were a bunch of chair shots and things smashing.
When Orton turned the lights back on HBK, Flair, Christian, and Big Show were left in destruction. Orton then left the room and disguised himself again as officials and road agents rushed to the room. That’s the show!
