After becoming the man who will face Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions, what will Randy Orton have in store for the WWE Universe?
After our normal RAW video, we got the entrance of Randy Orton to the ring. Commentary then talked about the match at Clash of Champions between Orton and Drew McIntyre, as well as Orton’s match tonight with Keith Lee.
Orton then got the mic. He said last week he told us all he would jump through whatever hoops to earn a rematch for the WWE Championship. Although Orton believed he was already entitled to said rematch. After beating Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and Keith Lee, Orton once again found himself facing Lee in singles competition. He told Lee to not take it personally, but the more they cross paths the more likely it is Lee will get a punt to the head. Orton said he could run down the list of those he has kicked in the head, but RAW is only three hours.
Then Orton addressed Drew McIntyre. While it is supposed to be McIntyre defending against Randy Orton at Clash of Champions, there is the big if of McIntyre recovering from three punts to the head and a fractured jaw. Then Orton showed what he did to McIntyre two weeks ago on the tron.
So the question is, what do you do when your champion is unable to defend at the PPV where every championship is on the line? Orton’s idea? Hand him the WWE Championship. Then, ambulance sirens were heard. DREW MCINTYRE CAME OUT OF THE AMBULANCE! As soon as McIntyre got into the ring….CLAYMORE KICK!
We then saw a video from earlier in the day of the Hurt Business making their way backstage. MVP was telling some sort of story as they walked past a janitor. He then accused the janitor of saying something about Shelton Benjamin’s mother. The poor janitor said he didn’t say anything, which then posed the question of if he was calling MVP a liar. Bobby Lashley grabbed the janitor and pushed him up against the wall. Then Benjamin punched him.
We got the entrance of Apollo Crews before heading to commercial break. When we returned from commercial break, we saw Drew McIntyre walking backstage. He was stopped by Adam Pearce, who was less than thrilled about McIntyre’s sudden appearance. Pearce said that with the fractured jaw McIntyre should be home. McIntyre said he was sending a message that fractured jaw or not, he will defend the WWE Championship at Clash. Pearce understood but asked him to leave.
Back at ringside, Cedric Alexander was attacked during his entrance by Cedric Alexander.
The Hurt Business defeated Apollo Crews, Ricochet, and Cedric Alexander via Pinfall (Paydirt)
The Hurt Business had some extra help tonight in the form of Cedric Alexander. While he technically was on the losing end, Alexander finally had enough of his so called friends. He threw Ricochet into the barricades a few times. Then delivered a Lumbar Check to Crews, which led to Benjamin gaining the victory an MVP real thrilled.
The Hurt Business shared a few smiles and looks with Cedric Alexander. Then we went to another commercial break. Returning from break we got the entrance of the Street Profits. Then Michael Cole, Samoa Joe, and Byron Saxton took us back to last week when Retribution made their appearance.
The Street Profits defeated Andrade and Angel Garza via Pinfall (Frog Splash)
For the second week in a row, Zelina Vega’s clients were not on the same page. Starting from entrances, Andrade and Vega blew past Garza. Then during the match Garza was not happy about being yelled at an decided to leave the match. Trouble in paradise it seems.
After the match, Cesaro’s music hit! He came out, followed by Shinsuke Nakamura! According to Michael Cole, the appearance of the Smackdown Tag Team Champions is due to the brand to brand invitational. We then went to another commercial break.
Back from break, the Street Profits and Artist Collective were in the ring. Cesaro said they were surprised to find out the Street Profits are the longest reigning RAW tag team champions in years! He said people probably didn’t know well because of basketball, golf, ninjas (as Nakamura filled in).
Cesaro and Nakamura said they were there to show everyone what champions look like. Cesaro said they would prove it and challenged them to a champions versus champions match next week. Angelo Dawkins stopped Nakamura from using their catchphrase. He said while they may be champions on the blue brand, it doesn’t mean they can hang with them on Monday Nights. Unlike the Bar 2.0, Montez Ford said the Street Profits have a real bond. The Street Profits agreed to the match next week!
We then found out that Kevin Owens will be facing Aleister Black at RAW Underground.
Then we got another video from earlier in the day, this time it was R-Truth! Truth was out to eat and reunited with Little Jimmy! A dessert cart was then brought over time him, but under the cart was a ninja! Truth used the cart to get rid of the ninjas and he escaped with the 24/7 Championship.
Before another commercial break, we got the entrance of Peyton Royce. She’ll be facing Billie Kay!
Peyton Royce defeated Billie Kay via Pinfall (Final Cut)
The match was decent. Royce and Kay had a moment where they blamed each other for the downfall of their tag team. Once they had this moment, the match up became pretty competitive.
After defeating her best friend, Royce helped Kay up and hugged her. Seems their friendship is still okay for now.
Commentary then showed us a video of the history Dominik Mysterio has with his opponent tonight, Murphy. Before another break, we went backstage and saw the entire Mysterio family walking around. You could see Murphy wandering behind them. After a recap of what happened to Randy Orton earlier, Charly Caruso introduced the Mysterio family to the ring.
Caruso asked about Rey’s recovery update. He said there is no exact time table yet, but he can’t wait to get back in the ring and put an end to Seth Rollins. When asked if he gave Dominik any advice for his match tonight, Rey talked about how proud he was of his son and that he is confident Dominik can put an end to Murphy.
Before Dominik could really speak, Murphy interrupted from the tron. He blamed Dominik for Seth Rollins turning his back on him (apparently Murphy is no longer a disciple). According to Murphy, Rollins wants nothing to do with him. Rey said it wasn’t their fault that Murphy joined forces with Rollins.
Murphy kind of agreed. Then said Dominik has a bright future here in WWE. The ultimate sacrifice though would be to end Dom’s career before it begins. Murphy challenged Dom to a street fight, which Dom accepted. He told Dom to bring his whole family to ringside with him for the match because it will be the last one they’ll get to see him wrestle.
Backstage the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, were talking to Adam Pearce. They were discussing the handicap matches Baszler and Jax both were to have, when Pearce saw Drew McIntyre walk by.
Pearce then double checked McIntyre was actually leaving the building. McIntyre mentioned something about how he forgot his phone and had went back to get it. Back at ringside we got the entrance of Asuka. We found out she will be defending the RAW Women’s Championship next week again Mickie James.
Asuka and Mickie James defeated Lana and Natalya via Submission (Asuka Lock)
Mickie and Asuka argued about who would start the match, eventually Mickie won the argument. Asuka and Mickie attempted to get some double team moves going, but Nattie tagged in Lana. Lots of tension between Mickie and Asuka, but they eventually got the win. Asuka tapped Lana out and Mickie delivered a Mick Kick to Nattie on the outside.
Backstage MVP asked Cedric Alexander if he was ready for the VIP Lounge. After MVP and Bobby Lashley walked away, Shelton Benjamin stayed back. Benjamin seemed unsure of Alexander and issued him a warning. Then we went to break.
Returning from commercial it was time for the VIP Lounge. MVP was very excited and honored about this edition of the VIP Lounge. He told Cedric Alexander that his life changes from this moment forward. Lashley then gave Alexander his shirt.
MVP asked why Alexander made the decision to finally join them. Shelton Benjamin was also very interested. Alexander said he would rather learn an earn then get beat down every week. Alexander didn’t like being in the background of his tag team with the One and Only. He also was tired of sacrificing his body for someone else’s championship opportunities. He didn‘t get a chance to continue when the Viking Raiders came out.
The Viking Raiders, Apollo Crews, and Ricochet then attacked the Hurt Business. They cleared the ring as we went to commercial break.
Hurt Business defeated Ricochet, Apollo Crews, and the Viking Raiders via Pinfall (Michinoku Driver)
Was this actually a victory? It seemed as though Ricochet kicked out before the ref’s final count, but the bell still rung. The ending was awkward, but the match certainly had its entertaining moments. Unfortunately it seemed that Ivar was injured on a dive to the outside. A scary moment where medics were checking on him after the match.
We went backstage where Drew McIntyre was still in the building. While McIntyre hates to disappoint Adam Pearce, he said he grabbed the wrong phone! The latest issue he had? Not being able to find the exit! Then we went to break while McIntyre wandered off.
Returning from commercial we got a video featuring Connor’s Cure and the truly amazing kids fighting pediatric cancer. We then were taken back to last week where Kevin Owens got attacked by Aleister Black before his match.
Backstage Kevin Owens showed up at the RAW Underground door. Shane McMahon was there and told KO their past differences are just water under the bridge.
KO still isn’t thrilled to see Shane-O and told him he was still a jackass. Shane got the door for him and then we went back to ringside.
We got a recap of what went down between Orton and McIntyre at the top of the show. Then Orton made his entrance to the ring.
Keith Lee made his entrance and we went to break.
Randy Orton defeated Keith Lee via DQ
Keith Lee was able to stop Orton from executing the RKO two times! One of those times found Orton’s jaw aggravated from the Claymore Kick earlier in the night. Orton did eventually hit the RKO, but it didn’t matter as DREW MCINTYRE interfered. A second Claymore Kick.
Adam Pearce met McIntyre at the top of the entrance ramp and just seemed super disappointed.
We then went to RAW Underground where Aleister Black was taking on an opponent in preparation for Kevin Owens. After Aleister got his first win, KO was ready to go! As the two men spilled to the outside, we went to another commercial.
Back from break, Adam Pearce was apologizing to Randy Orton for Drew McIntyre still being in the building. Orton wasn’t having any of it. ”Your word means nothing to me.”
The Riott Squad defeated Shayna Baszler via Pinfall
Baszler seemed to have had Morgan put away, but Nia Jax heckled her on the outside. This caused a distraction and allowed Morgan to get the victory.
Then another commercial.
Back from break we checked in on KO and Aleister Black at RAW Underground. The match was still happening! KO got out of a submission by swinging Black into a wall. After that the match got a bit out of control and we went back to ringside as Shane was trying to get it together.
Nia Jax versus the Riott Squad ended in a No Contest?
Retribution can be blamed here. As it seemed the Women’s Tag Team Champions would both lose their matches tonight, the lights flickered. As Morgan had Jax pinned, the Thunderdome went dark.
Retribution logos appeared on the screens and then members of the group appeared on the tron. They said the Thunderdome is only a facade and behind it all is the same foundation, the same WWE as before. This WWE has disowned them and left them to survive in an unfair world.
Another member of the group said they are driven to lay waste to every superstar. The darkness of Retribution will apparently seep into every WWE Superstars’ pore and the entire universe. Then we went to commercial break.
Back from break we checked in on the Mysterios. Rey confirmed that the entire family will be in Dom’s corner later.
RAW Underground check in! KO and Aleister Black were still fighting! Then wound up running into Dabba Kato, which didn’t end well for either man.
Backstage Randy Orton seemed to be trying to leave when Charly Caruso caught up with him. Drew McIntyre though attacked Orton from behind…..THIRD CLAYMORE KICK!! Claymore Outta Nowhere it seems.
When we returned from break, Orton was being taken off in an ambulance.
Dominik Mysterio defeated Murphy
Murphy quit! Dom was super impressive in this match. He flew off one of the LED boards featuring the virtual WWE Universe. Later on while his family looked on, kendo sticks and all, Dom hit a sunset powerbomb through a table on Murphy! With the help of his family, and the trusty kendo sticks, Dom won!
