During WWE Smackdown, August 6th 2021, WWE officially released the following talent, including former WWE NXT North American Champion, Bronson Reed:
The most shocking of the releases. Reed dropped the North American championship to Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in June, most assumed he was doing so to prepare for a main-roster callup. Reed was wrestling matches on Main Event and backstage at SmackDown.
Whilst the reasons have not been fully given, and there are no official WWE.com Statements as of this post (9:30 am GMT, Aug 7th ’21), Sean Ross at Fightful posted a series of tweets which named the releases, and that they have all been in contact with WWE Staff Member John Laurinaitis. As with the recent mishap in Aleister Black, it’s said that these WWE NXT releases should have just a 30-Day No-Compete in their contracts, but that isn’t confirmed.
Numerous talents have commented on their releases on social media too;
Reed said: ‘Just got released from @WWE. This monster is back on the loose … you don’t know WHAT you’ve just done. #WWE .@AEW .@IMPACTWRESTLING .@njpw1972 .@ringofhonor’
Ari Sterling simply tweeted: ‘Alex Zayne > Ari Sterling’
Troy wrote: ‘Life is tough, but it’s about time I got some adversity to see what I’m made of. What a way to start the weekend.
‘Thank you @TripleH and @WWENXT for the opportunity. There’s power in the name and with a name like Denzel Dejournette I can’t and won’t lose!’
And Reeves added: ‘Thank you @WWE @WWENXT !! (sic)’
While Atlas quoted Lady Gaga as he tweeted: ‘I’ve always been famous. It’s just no one knew it yet’.
