WWE REPORTEDLY NEGOTIATING WITH ESPN

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is reportedly having talks with ESPN.

These reported talks are apparently in regards to WWE content airing on the ESPN+ service, similar to how UFC currently does. This kind of deal would mean that WWE would sell their rights to air pay-per-views, which would pay more money for the content than WWE could make on its own by selling the content directly to viewers with the WWE Network.

There is nothing outright confirmed yet, but an ESPN+ deal could potentially bring more mainstream exposure to WWE’s big events and their biggest Superstars.

WWE TO REPORTEDLY OPEN PERFORMANCE CENTER IN JAPAN

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE are going to open a performance centre in Japan.

A Japanese expansion have been rumoured for a while now, even with speculation that WWE was trying to buy Pro Wrestling NOAH but with it being sold to the CyberAgent media company earlier this year, that all cooled off.

According to reports, WWE has reportedly reached out to WWE Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki and Hiroshi Hase about the political situation surrounding the new PC in Japan. Hase was named the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2015.

WWE are set to return to Osaka and Yokohama in July for three live events this year.

They have confirmed that Velasquez is currently at the WWE Performance Center “getting in reps” as he prepares for his next match, with him expected to be at the PC for the next two weeks.

Velazquez has not been seen on WWE television since losing to Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia back on Halloween day in 2019, signed a three-year deal just before his debut match.
