WWE SmackDown Live Results – 4th June, 2019

Daniel McIver runs down the results from tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live.

With Super ShowDown on Friday, Smackdown had a lot to do in order to properly hype up their side of the show. But with The Undertaker, Goldberg and the WWE Champion making appearances, they definitely have the potential to do just that.

  • Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods open the show in the ring. Kingston states he is ready and willing to fight through anything and that’s what got him the WWE Championship. A promo package airs recapping Kofi’s time in Ghana over the past week. Dolph Ziggler interrupts with a promo package showcasing the career he has had. Whereas Kingston raises the point that the last title Ziggler held- he vacated. Kofi then states that, as long as he is still champion, Ziggler will never win it.
  • MEN’S TAG TEAM MATCH- Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. MATCH RESULT- Kingston and Woods win via pinfall.
  • Post match- Dolph Ziggler lays out Woods and Kingston with super-kicks.
  • A Moment of Bliss airs with Bayley as the Special Guest. It is crashed by Carmella and Charlotte Flair and a match is set up for later tonight; Carmella vs Alexa Bliss vs Charlotte Flair with the winner facing Bayley for the Smackdown Woman’s Championship at ‘Stomping Grounds.’
  • Backstage- R-Truth is on the phone to Shane McMahon and it is announced he will have a 24/7 Championship match in the ring, next.
  • 24/7 Championship LumberJack Match– R-Truth (c) vs Elias. MATCH RESULT- Elias wins via pinfall. New Champion.
  • However, under the ring, R-Truth wins back the 24/7 Championship.
  • Aleister Black cuts another backstage promo. He wants a challenge and is a very easy man to find.
  • Shane McMahon and The Revival come to the ring. Shane runs down Roman Reigns and states he will beat him on Friday. Reigns comes out and takes out The Revival but, before he can get to Shane, is hit by a Claymore from Drew McIntyre. Shane then hits Roman with a spear, like last night, to close the segment.
  • WOMAN’S TRIPLE THREAT MATCH- Charlotte Flair vs Alexa Bliss vs Carmella. MATCH RESULT- Alexa Bliss wins via pinfall after the help of Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.
  • Alexa Bliss vs Bayley for the WWE Smackdown Woman’s Championship at ‘Stomping Grounds’ is confirmed.
  • Lars Sullivan comes to the ring for an ‘Exclusive Interview’ with Kayla Braxton. Sullivan states that he is tired of being referred to as ‘A Freak’ and will tear apart The Lucha House Party at Super ShowDown.
  • Andrade attacks Apollo Crews before their scheduled match. Balor comes out to defend Crews but Andrade drops Finn with the Hammerlock DDT and leaves.
  • Goldberg comes out to the ring to discuss his match with The Undertaker at Super ShowDown. He says he has waited 20 years for this match and is coming to kick Taker’s ass. Undertaker’s gong plays and he appears behind Goldberg but then disappears when the lights come back up.

Much like the RAW proceeding it, Smackdown Live was ok. Multiple feuds were progressed and the wrestling action was crisp. It just, again, felt that the show was trying to hard to plug too many things at once.
