WWE SmackDown Live Results – July 16th, 2019

Daniel McIver runs down the results from tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live.

As the first episode of Smackdown Live entirely run by Eric Bischoff, there are high expectations heading into this Tuesday night. We have a Daniel Bryan announcement, two huge woman’s tag matches and a ‘Town Hall’ meeting with Shane McMahon! Let’s find out how it goes.

  • We start with footage from earlier today showing that Kevin Owens has been ‘given the night off’ and is banned from the arena.
  • The ‘Town Hall’ meeting kicks off the show where Shane is allowing the entire locker-room to air their issues in a public forum. Multiple faces talk about how they agree with Kevin Owens whereas all heels side with Shane. The ‘face’ microphone then gets cut off.
  • Cesaro then comes out to challenge Aleister Black to another match that Shane confirms.
  • The segment ends with Kevin Owens jumping Shane with a stunner.
  • MEN’S SINGLES MATCH- Aleister Black vs Cesaro. MATCH RESULT- Black wins via pinfall.
  • WOMAN’S SINGLES MATCH- Charlotte Flair vs Liv Morgan. MATCH RESULT- Charlotte wins via submission.
  • Post match- Liv grabs Corey’s headset and states; ‘Charlotte was right…when I come back, I’m going to be real.’
  • WOMAN’S TAG TEAM MATCH– Ember Moon and Bayley vs Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. MATCH RESULT- Moon and Bayley win via pinfall.
  • Post match- Bayley discusses who she will face at Summerslam after being done with Alexa Bliss. She challenges Ember Moon and she accepts.
  • Sara Schreiber spoke to the new Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. He said he’s ready to reign down chaos on SmackDown. Ali approaches Nakamura and congratulates him on winning the title.
  • We were meant to get Daniel Bryan’s big announcement, but The New Day come out. They talk about all having titles and pre-emptively accepts Daniel Bryan and Rowan’s title rematch.
  • Daniel Bryan and Rowan come out but Bryan says nothing, walks out twice before dropping the mic and walking away.
  • Samoa Joe, Elias and Randy Orton interrupts , demanding WWE Title opportunities. A six-man tag is made, but Orton says no. Kofi Kingston then says the Viper has gone limp, which angers The Viper
  • SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH: Samoa Joe, Elias and Randy Orton vs The New Day. MATCH RESULT – Randy Orton, Elias & Samoa Joe via pinfall.
  • Carmella found 24/7 Champion R-Truth hiding in a washing machine. Carmella told him to hide out at comic-con.
  • WWE WOMEN’S TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Kabuki Warriors vs The Iiconics. MATCH RESULT: The Kabuki Warriors via countout, Iiconics retain their titles.
  • Kairi Sane and Asuka attack their opponents, Sane hits the Insane Elbow on Billie Kay.
  • SINGLES MATCH: Andrade vs Apollo Crews. MATCH RESULT: Apollo Crews via pinfall.
  • SINGLES MATCH: Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler. MATCH RESULT: Kevin Owens via disqualification, when Shane McMahon pulled Owens off a pin.
  • Owens stunned Shane McMahon again and ran off as other superstars (who Shane had brought out earlier) chase him down.
  • Kayla Braxton interviews Shane McMahon, and Shane says Owens will pay.

This show was just kind of there, I felt. The ending was incredibly flat, but the Cesaro/Black rematch was great, and the Liv Morgan mini-promo was intrigued.
