Roman Reigns and Adam Pearce met in a face off to sign the contract for their match at the Royal Rumble, while Rey Mysterio tries to get revenge on King Corbin.
The show began with a video recap of how Adam Pearce became the number one contender to the Universal Championship.
After our normal intro, we saw Roman Reigns backstage in his locker room with Paul Heyman. Apparently Heyman had concerns about the contract for the Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble. Heyman then said he thought the contract needed a stipulation to put respect and fear into Pearce. Needless to say, the Tribal Chief is not in a good mood.
At ringside we then got the entrance of Jey Uso. Once Uso was handed the mic, he welcomed us to Friday Night Smackdown…errr, wait the Bloodline Show. According to Uso, as long as he and his cousin are the head of the table they run the show. Uso gave a warning to Adam Pearce to be careful.
Then Uso told us if we all thought they were satisfied with just running Smackdown to think again. As for being the right hand man to Roman Reigns? Well the family is about to expand! Uso declared his entry to the Royal Rumble match. He then said he would go on to win the Rumble and go face Drew McIntyre, or “Oldberg” or anyone who is WWE Champion at Wrestlemania.
Before the Rumble, Uso said he needed to handle business with Shinsuke Nakamura. Everyone has been talking about Nakamura’s gauntlet match performance and Uso said he did good. Uso then listed off the competitors Nakamura defeated until they said “not tonight Uce.” According to Uso, Nakamura should be thanking them because they let him survive last week.
Then, Nakamura’s ORIGINAL ENTRANCE MUSIC hit.
Once Nakamura got to the ring he made a joke about Reigns being the Big Dog and Uso being his little puppy. Uso tried to attack Nakamura, but Nakamura hit him with a kick! Then we went to commercial break.
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Jey Uso via Pinfall (Kinshasa)
Uso tried to sneak away with a victory, but Charles Robinson was a good referee and caught his feet on the ropes. Otherwise, the two had a hard hitting match, with Nakamura getting a bit of revenge on Uso for last week. Nakamura’s tag team partner, Cesaro did make his way to ringside during the match but he just joined commentary.
After the match we went backstage to Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce. Deville held the contract for the Universal Championship in her hands. She told Pearce that she had seen some of his matches on YouTube and believed he stood a chance against Reigns. They were interrupted by the appearance of Paul Heyman.
Heyman handed Pearce a contract with some changes. He then made it clear to Pearce what kind of opportunity is in front of him. According to Heyman the match is in Pearce’s favor….a No DQ match! Pearce said he saw through Heyman’s facade. The sales pitch Heyman was trying to get him to buy was ridiculous, but Pearce signed the contract. Then we went to commercial break.
Returning from break we saw Jey Uso yelling at Charles Robinson. Robinson agreed that Nakamura’s shoulders were on that mat, but Uso’s feet were definitely on the ropes. Uso yelled at him to do his job better or the Chief will get him fired. “Do your job Charles!”
Then we got a Progressive Match Flo on how Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode became the Smackdown Tag Team Champions.
After The Street Profits were interviewed backstage. Kayla Braxton asked them if it was wise to put the titles on the line a week after Ziggler and Roode attacked them. Montez Ford said no one can call them scared. 312 days they held the tag team titles. The Street Profits said that while Ziggler and Roode are champions now, they will run it back.
Even though they are down right now, they are up and THEY WANT THE SMOKE.
After we again saw Roman Reigns in his locker room. He was chatting with Apollo Crews, when Heyman delivered the signed contract. Crews got up to leave, but Reigns told him to stay. Apparently Crews could learn from what was about to happen.
While Pearce signed a contract for a No DQ match, Reigns still wasn’t happy. Reigns said he wants a Last Man Standing Match, which Heyman said Pearce would never go for. Then Reigns made it clear that Pearce would sign the contract because Heyman would make him. Reigns said he considered it handled as he began to chat with Crews again.
After getting some hype for Bayley’s new talk show, we took a commercial break.
Returning from commercial break we got the entrance of The Riott Squad….and Billie Kay!
Natalya defeated Liv Morgan via Pinfall (Rollup)
Billie Kay’s unofficial, official tryout to join the Riott Squad did not go so well. Kay tried to be edgy and cheer for Liv from the commentary table, but that didn’t work. As soon as Liv seemed to be in a bit of trouble, Kay left the commentary table and wound up near Tamina (who was supporting Nattie). Then Kay escaped in the ring and messed up Liv!
While Kay served as the distraction, she comforted Liv with Riott. It was a tense moment between the three though.
Then we got a video replay on what happened between King Corbin and the Mysterios last week. After we got the entrance of Rey Mysterio before going to commercial break.
King Corbin defeated Rey Mysterio via Pinfall (End Of Days)
Dominik Mysterio was on commentary during the match and of course Corbin tried to mess with him by yelling at him. Corbin knew Dominik wouldn’t cost his dad the match, even though he tried hard to get Dominik to get involved. Mysterio did show resilience during the match, but it just wasn’t enough.
Dominik did try to stand up for himself and his dad, but it was too little too late. When Dominik picked his time to stand up for himself, it wound up costing his dad the match.
After the match, father and son had a discussion in the ring about what happened. Then we saw Adam Pearce and Paul Heyman run into each other backstage. Heyman told Pearce that Roman Reigns didn’t sign the contract because he had some concerns. When Pearce was told that Reigns wanted a Last Man Standing Match he asked what their deal was.
Heyman told Pearce to take his time because he could see Reigns face to face in the ring later. Situation handled.
Then we took another commercial break.
When we returned from commercial break Dominik Mysterio was confronting his father. Dom wasn’t happy that after everything in his dad’s career he is picking now to back down. Rey said he was trying to be smart about the situation with Corbin. Dom couldn’t care less about what Corbin has done, but before he could continue Rey interrupted. Apparently Rey knows someone they can talk to about dealing with Corbin.
Back at ringside it was time for the premiere of Smackdown’s newest talk show: Ding Dong Hello!
According to Bayley her show is already bigger than Wandavision! Then Bayley welcome her guest, Bianca Belair! Bayley made Belair ring the doorbell and come through the door that was in the ring. What a time.
Belair took Bayley’s seat that she vacated, which left Bayley with a stool. Of course Bayley decided to stand and then complimented Belair on her WWE Chronicle debuting on the 24th. Bayley then shared a “sneak preview” of the chronicle, which of course was not real.
After bickering about Belair’s nickname, Bayley challenged her to an obstacle course next week!
We then saw some earlier footage of Daniel Bryan training with Otis and Chad Gable. Bryan said training with Otis and Gable has been wonderful. When asked about losing to Nakamura last week, Bryan said there was no shame in the loss. While Bryan was trying to talk, Cesaro showed up!
Back to present time, Daniel Bryan made his entrance to the ring before we went to commercial break.
Cesaro defeated Daniel Bryan via Pinfall (Neutralizer)
A match you just have to watch. Cesaro and Bryan put on a clinic. A hard hitting match up between two of the best competitors in WWE. Both men took advantage of their opponents mistakes. It was a well fought contest. Commentary said that this win was a defining moment for Cesaro.
Carmella was then interviewed backstage. Mella said that she has been telling the truth about Sasha Banks. According to Mella she has the natural talent that Banks can’t touch. She hasn’t seen Banks in two weeks…since she pinned her. Before Mella could continue, Banks came up and shoved her down!
The sommelier, Reginald got in between the two women. Banks then said she would give Mella another title shot, if Banks could face Reginald in a match first.
Before another commercial break, we got the entrance of Apollo Crews.
Apollo Crews defeated Sami Zayn via Pinfall (Roll up)
The Intercontinental champion, Big E happened to be at ringside for this match. He had his own couch and mini fridge, basically E was having a good time. Zayn brought his camera crew again to document any “conspiracy” theories. The match was pretty decent, that is until Zayn tried to grab the tights of Crews on a pin attempt. Crews then repaid the favor, but the ref didn’t see!
After his victory Crews grabbed the Intercontinental Championship from Big E! E grabbed it back as the two bickered.
We then saw Adam Pearce walking backstage, walking to meet Roman Reigns in the ring before we went to commercial break.
When we returned from break, Roman Reigns made his entrance accompanied by Paul Heyman and Jey Uso. Then Adam Pearce made his way to the ring with no entrance music whatsoever.
Pearce took a seat in the ring before Reigns, this obviously wasn’t the right choice. Reigns would not take the other chair and made Pearce move! Once things settled down, Pearce signed the new contract. He then pushed the contract over to Reigns.
Once Reigns finally signed the contract, Pearce grabbed it and stood up. He said he had been waiting for Reigns to sign it all night. Pearce then left the ring. As Pearce was walking up the entrance ramp his knee began to give out on him.
Pearce still had a mic and told Reigns it just might be one of those injuries that act up from time to time. He told Reigns not to worry because all WWE contracts say the same thing…barred to subject change. As a WWE official, Pearce said he reserved the right to find a suitable replacement in case he is not medically cleared. His choice?
KO’s music hit and he signed the contract with a smile on his face. FIGHT OWENS FIGHT!
That’s the show friends!
