The show must go on. We’re about to embark into uncharted territory, where the WWE is putting on shows but they’re from the Performance Center in Tampa, FL. Without Fans.
Lets begin then. Triple H cold opens the show and explains what the WWE performance center is. If they don’t use this video to plug the WWE PC for the future, they’re missing a trick. As arena promos go, this was fantastic and made the WWE PC look like the greatest place to train ever.
After the initial promo, Triple H joins Michael Cole on commentary. Cole explains basically why the show is happening. They never mention the C word, instead they just want to entertain and disract.
Sasha Banks & Bayley enter the arena to a gigantic… oh. Nevermind. They enter and talk to Triple H & Michael Cole. They want to know where Paige is (IRL She didn’t make it to the show due to other issues cause yano. C word) but she isn’t here yet. Alexa & Nikki interupt the Boss & Hug Connection and we get the first empty arena match since The Rock Vs. Mankind in 1999.
I’m claiming it.
Sasha Banks & Bayley Vs. Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss. Empty Arena Match.
So obviously, this was really strange. With no crowd you can hear everyone doing everything, but thankfully you can’t hear them calling spots. We’ll leave that to Maffew from Botchamania to discover. Finish comes along when Asuka sneaks in from the crowd to distract Alexa and Sasha taps out Nikki for the win.
Asuka celebrates on the ramp and dances to Sasha Banks theme song. Roman Reigns comes out after the commercial break to a much more positive reaction than usual… Him and Michael Cole have a lovely chat about the WrestleMania match against Goldberg. Yes, WWE are still promoting WrestleMania.
TO THE BACK, (Hey) Kayla is about to introduce somebody off camera but Team Wrestle (Nakamura, Sami Zayn & Cesaro. I swear this name will catch on if I use it enough). Basically, they just wanted some promo time, Kayla introduces Jeff Hardy, Jeff looks in great shape. Baron Corbin interupts and make Sobriaty Field Test jokes. After this, we also get a segment with Daniel Bryan & Drew Gulak, basically they’re down to fight again but Team wrestler interupted them and Triple H (still on commentary) books Bryan Vs. Cesaro.
Here is where the results get strange. We’re shown a replay of the Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber match. This felt like a massive wrong step, the show had a really weird vibe but showing something from a week ago seems strange. Regardless, it happened. As you know by now, Miz & Morrison retain the Tag Team Championships.
After the entire match (Yes), Miz & Morrison are Live in the ring and do a promo. Nothing really comes afterwards, so it was sort of like an edition of the Dirt Sheet. Mojo Rowley is at the desk with Triple H & Michael Cole. Gronk will be at Smackdown next week (Wherever that is? At this point we’ve assumed that every show will be at the WWEPC).
Daniel Bryan Vs. Cesaro (And Team Wrestle)
Unfortunately the camera was mostly paying attention to everything outside of the ring. A damn shame. Daniel got a roll up (Not a small package) for the victory. Post match, we have the shenanigans of Daniel getting beaten up but Gulak makes the save.
Baron Corbin Vs. Jeff Hardy
Corbin hit the Deep Six for a nearfall at which point Elias stood on the announce table and started playing guitar. This distracted Corbin and let Hardy hit the Twist of Fury(!) and the Swanton Bomb for the win. Not very good… it’s easy to blame the lack of crowd but it was really just a match.
John Cena comes out for what is the main event. He shoots on Bray a little bit. saying he isn’t the future and doesn’t deserve his 4th, 5th, 6th chance and needed to step up. John runs down a list of the popular NXTcrew as Bray shows up in the ‘crowd’. Bray basically just threatens him more as we go home and fade to black with the evil Fiend laugh in the background.
