WWE: SmackDown TV Report: 10th January 2014

Philadelphia Pennsylvania

Hello all wrestling fans. It’s been a very exciting week with the announcement of the WWE Network finally being launched next month there is going to be tons of content available to revisit and review. I think this is a great move from the WWE and I am looking forward to going back and looking at some of my favourite moments from the past. Many fans were sceptical that we would ever see the day that this Network would actually materialise but it seems WWE is shifting into a new era now and is really making an active attempt to stay relevant with today’s audiences.

This week’s SmackDown TV Report kicks off with another good video promo from Bray Wyatt followed by the first match of the night.

The Uso’s vs  The Wyatt’s Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

The match starts with the noticeable absence of Bray Wyatt and the newest member of the Wyatt family Daniel Bryan. The Wyatt’s dominate the majority of the match with some good offence but slowly the Uso’s start to build momentum and begin to gain control of the match. Some great back and forth high impact moves and a nice Suicide dive to the outside. The match eventually ends with a double count out. As the Uso’s start to retreat up the ramp there escape is blocked when Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt make their way down the ramp and attack the them. The Uso’s are then taken back to the ring and Bray Wyatt delivers Sister Abigail to Jimmy Uso.

Miz TV

The Miz’s guest tonight is The Big Show. The Big Show tells the Miz that he does not like Brock Lesnar and he has always disliked him. The Big Show challenges Brock Lesnar to a fight tonight. Paul Heyman makes his way out to the top of the ramp and tells The Big Show that The Big Show only gets to fight Brock Lesnar when he says so. Paul Heyman tells The Big Show that he can have his fight against Brock at The Royal Rumble.

Ray Mysterio, Sin Cara and the Los Matadores vs Rybaxel and The Real Americans

This match played out exactly how I had wished and imagined, very quickly and with Mysterio winning with the 619 and Dropping the Dime. No real big spots to mention just a pretty average match.

Randy Orton vs Big E Langston

Langston shows his strength in the opening minutes of the match by overpowering Orton easily. Orton tries to regain his composure but Langston continues to dish out punishment to the champ. This quickly turns into a squash match and Orton does the smart thing by baling out of the ring. Langston follows him out of the ring and continues his attack by ramming Orton back first into the barricade. They return to the ring and Langston attempts a charge at Orton but Orton side steps and Langston tumbles to the outside. This is the turning point in the match. Randy wears Langston down for a long time but Langston fights back and even manages a near fall after delivering the Big Splash. Eventually Orton delivers a thumb to the eye followed by the RKO to pick up the win.

Despite the loss  I thought Langston looked incredibly strong in this match I was very surprised how much he dominated the match. I didn’t expect him to get the victory but I think he came out of this looking really good. The Langston push continues.

Fandango accompanied by Summer Rae vs Xavier Woods accompanied by R-Truth and the Funkadactyls

This match was pointless nothing really happened and it was over in about two minutes. Xavier Woods rolls up Fandango for the win.

The Shield vs The New Age Outlaws and CM Punk

This match was a lot better than I had thought it was going to be. I was expecting the New Age Outlaws to be complexly terrible but to be honest I did not find them too distracted. Punk played a small part in the match until the final few minutes. The finish is Billy Gun getting caught with a Spear by Roman Reigns. The Shield pick up the win.

This week’s episode was far from amazing but easily watchable. No Diva match this week so I guess that was a plus. The best two matches were The Uso’s vs The Wyatt’s and Orton vs Langston everything else was below par in my opinion.
