Survivor Series has always been a favourite PPV of mine.
I love the unpredictability of it all. Although it’s slightly lost its shine over the years, it’s still a great PPV capable of producing magical moments. This year has the potential to be special, as its RAW vs Smackdown vs NXT. It’s already led to some fantastic moments already, so tonight has the potential to be amazing.
Because I’m a person with access to the internet, I have opinions about who might win at Survivor Series. Plus, everyone loves predictions, so here are my predictions for WWE Survivor Series.
Women’s Survivor Series match: Team RAW (Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Natalya, Kairi Sane and Sarah Logan) vs Team Smackdown (Sasha Banks, Carmella, Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke and Lacey Evans) vs Team NXT (Rhea Ripley, Candice LeRae, Bianca Belair and Toni Storm)
If we ignore the fact that WWE have screwed PROGRESS Wrestling over here (Toni Storm was booked on their show today), this will be an amazing match. It might be a bit chaotic (A minimum of 10 eliminations must happen), but with the talent in here, it’ll be a good showcase for everyone.
It’s down to RAW or NXT for me. Smackdown has the weakest team out of the three and despite them having Sasha and Nikki on their team, they’re not gonna win. Team NXT is strong, but apart from Toni, they were in an (amazing) War Games match last night, which will play a huge part in proceedings in my opinion. Also, RAW has Charlotte Flair, so I think she will be the sole survivor.
Prediction: Team RAW, Charlotte is the sole survivor.
Champions Showcase match: United States Champion AJ Styles vs North America Champion Roderick Strong vs IC Champion Shinsuke Nakamura (w/ Sami Zayn)
This is actually very hard to predict. There’s a case to be made for all three men. Shinsuke probably needs it more than Styles or Strong. Strong could win as part of a dominant UE performance at Survivor Series. Styles and The O.C are currently in the midst of a huge push, plus its AJ Styles, who WWE always book strongly.
I’m going for AJ to win here. It’ll be close between him and Roddy, but I think that Styles will just edge it. Although Shinsuke needs it more, he probably won’t, even though he got a beautiful new title belt which would look nice held aloft at the end of the match. However, I can’t look past AJ for this, so I’ll go with the Phenomenal One.
Prediction: AJ Styles
NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole (C) vs Pete Dunne
If given enough time, these two could end up stealing the show. No one else has had a better 2019 in WWE than Adam Cole. The guy has put on great matches with just about everyone, and has been the star of the NXT Invasion of the main roster, having great matches with Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins and as part of a 6-man tag match against the O.C. The Panama City playboy is destined to become a megastar in the very near future.
The same could be said of Pete Dunne. Clearly a favourite of Triple H and WWE, The Bruiserweight does not look out of place mixing it up with the main roster and will only get better as time goes on. Considering how good he is now, that’s a very scary thought.
As good as Dunne is, he’s not winning here. Cole isn’t going to lose the belt to a guy who only got the opportunity 24 hours ago. Plus, he’s currently locked in a feud with Tommaso Ciampa for the belt, so he’s probably gonna lose it to Ciampa soon. It is possible that WWE could pull a swerve and put the belt on Dunne, but that’s very unlikely. For now, the belt should stay in the hands of Adam Cole (Bay Bay)
Prediction: Adam Cole
Champions Showcase match: RAW Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) vs Smackdown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston) vs NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly)
This is gonna be good. All three teams are capable of absolute magic in the ring, so it will be interesting to see how they will all gel together. My one complaint about this match is that The Revival should have been in it instead of The New Day. It would have made more sense, considering all three teams have been or are currently NXT Tag Team Champions. The New Day are great, but it would have been just as good, maybe even better, with The Revival in.
Despite all of this, I’m backing Big E and Kofi to win here. I can’t really explain why, but there’s something just pulling me towards them. Fish and O’Reilly will still be recovering from War Games, Viking Raiders have cooled off remarkably since Crown Jewel, so I’m going for The New Day to win here. This is the one I’m least sure off though.
Prediction: The New Day
No Holds Barred match for the WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar (C) vs Rey Mysterio.
Admit it, you’re looking forward to this match just a little bit aren’t you? Brock has excelled in recent years against smaller people and has done exceptionally well at Survivor Series in the past couple of years against AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan, who are both small. Plus, Rey’s really good, so this match will be ace.
The No Holds Barred match guarantees shenanigans will happen. Rey’s son Dominik is rumoured to be getting involved, which will hopefully lead to Brock F5’ing Dominik onto something (I’m a very evil person). The wildcard in this is Cain Velasquez. Having been humiliated by Brock at Crown Jewel, he might turn up looking for revenge. However, I can’t see that happening during the match. He still needs a lot of training to get to the level that WWE want him to be. He might turn up after the match to save Rey from getting destroyed, to lead to a match at the Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania. All of this means that Brock is retaining the belt here. It’ll be a good match, but it’ll end the way Brocks matches always do: With Brock retaining his belt.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar
Men’s Survivor Series Match: Team RAW (Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Ricochet and Randy Orton vs Team NXT (Will be announced on the Kickoff Show) vs Team Smackdown (Roman Reigns, King Corbin, Braun Strowman, Mustafa Ali and Shorty G)
A very intriguing match-up, if only for the mystery of the NXT team. At a guess, it’ll be Keith Lee, Tommaso Ciampa, Damion Priest, Matt Riddle and a 5th man who I’ll get to shortly. The star power in this match is incredible, so it will no doubt be an amazing contest.
Triple H has said that the 5th man will be revealed on the night. This has led to a lot of people saying that someone from RAW or Smackdown is going to turn on their team. The two options people say the most are McIntyre or Owens. I don’t see either of them happening. McIntyre doesn’t seem like the type to turn and Owens seems too obvious. Plus, after the HUGE reaction he got last night at War Games, it seems unlikely he’ll turn. That leaves only one man who could, and should, turn on everyone. That man is The Architect, Seth Rollins. The perfect scenario would be one man left from each team, ideally Seth, Ciampa and Roman, facing off inside the ring. Seth and Roman stand together, due to their history together, but then Seth moves over to Ciampa and they double team Roman, leading to Team NXT picking up the win.
(I’m fully aware this probably won’t happen, but I CAN DREAM DAMMIT).
This then solves a couple of problems. One, it finally turns Seth heel after months of him acting like one. Two, Seth to NXT would generate a lot of viewers to NXT the next Wednesday and for a while afterwards too, because its Seth F’n Rollins (according to his awful shirts). It’d be a risky move for them to do, but it could be very rewarding for WWE in the long term, if done right.
Prediction: Team NXT with Tomasso Ciampa and Seth Rollins
Champions Showcase match: NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler vs RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley.
The match which has everyone talking, mainly because of the amazing promos between Shayna and Becky. This should main event, but probably won’t. Although everyone’s eyes are on Baszler and Becky for this one, it’s Bayley that should come away with the win here.
It’d make perfect sense. Bayley gets taken out at the start of the match, leaving Lynch and Baszler to duke it out. After they’ve duked it out for ages, Bayley can swoop in and pick up the win. It adds to her character of being a chickenshit heel, and it would also build anticipation for a Baszler vs Lynch singles match down the line. Plus, Bayley has been forgotten about in this feud, so it makes perfect sense for her to win here and brag about it for ages. She needs it more than Baszler and Becky do as well, so a win here would be a huge boost for the former Huggable One.
WWE Universal Championship: ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt (C) vs Daniel Bryan
This is the match I’m most looking forward too. The history between the two is well documented, with Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt having a fantastic feud at the beginning of 2014. But that was the old Bryan and Wyatt. Bryan has retired twice since then and returned, and Bray has been broken and reformed as The Fiend. He might have slightly cooled off since the Hell in a Cell fiasco, but in Daniel Bryan, they have the perfect person to bring The Fiend back to the high level he was once at.
I do have to say though, I don’t know what they are doing with Bryan at the moment. He doesn’t suit the Kevin Owens type antihero and he’s not a heel as far as I know. Maybe I’m just thick (which is likely) and it’s leading to something big, possibly happening tonight.
Anyways, The Fiend is winning here. This is the safest pick to make. He’s only just won the belt, so he’s not gonna lose it in his first defence. He’s going to hold it until at least Wrestlemania, and he needs a strong first challenger, which Bryan is. This feud might continue after this, so The Fiend winning here, even if it’s not clean, will still further the feud until at least the Royal Rumble.
Prediction: The Fiend
