The most unique WrestleMania of all time begins with grudge matches, title matches and bizarre goings-on.
Our Wrestlemania host, Rob Gronkowski with the help of Mojo Rawley welcomes us to the show. Gronk hopes that the next two days of shows can help take our minds off the rest of the world for a few hours.
Gronk and Mojo help introduce Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. Our opening match, the Women’s Tag Team Titles!
Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defeated The Kabuki Warriors to become the New Women’s Tag Team Champions
This match was a good start for the first night of Mania. It was much more physical than expected and Nikki Cross was an absolute star. This was by far her best match in WWE to date.
After the match we headed backstage to Charly Caruso interviewing Sami Zayn. Sami, of course, is with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro. Sami talked about how everyone thought Braun Strowman would retain the Intercontinental Championship, but he didn’t. Tonight will be no different, Sami Zayn will inevitably defeat Daniel Bryan.
Back out at ringside, King Corbin made his entrance. He got to the ring and said Elias is no where to be found. Then a video played as to why Elias may not be able to compete tonight.
After the video played, Corbin told the referee to start counting Elias out. BUT WAIT! Elias’s music hits and he appears! Corbin and Elias brawl on the entrance ramp, Elias hits Corbin with his guitar and then we are off!
Elias defeated King Corbin via Rollup
Corbin tried and tried, but cheating got him no where. Elias though? Elias won this match by holding Corbin’s tights. Corbin was shocked, but Elias celebrated his victory and revenge, as he should.
Becky Lynch defeated Shayna Baszler to retain the RAW Women’s Championship
Honestly, I don’t quite know how to feel about this one. Started off really fast and furious, but the ending felt odd. Shayna had Becky in the Kirifuda Clutch, but Becky flipped it into a pinning position to get the three.
After the conclusion, Becky was celebrating victory while Shayna sat in the corner grieving her loss.
Sami Zayn defeated Daniel Bryan via Pinfall (Helluva Kick)
Sami really didn’t want this match to happen, every chance he got he went to the outside and acted like he was going to head to the back. Anytime Bryan chased him down, there was Cesaro or Nakamura. Drew Gulak eventually took care of both Cesaro and Nakamura, but taking them out solved the problem for a short while. Bryan attempted a top rope move and Sami countered with a Helluva Kick for the win.
John Morrison retains the Smackdown Tag Team Championships by defeating Kofi Kingston and Jimmy Uso.
This match was way better than I expected. The three men absolutely killed it and left it all on the line. The end of the match saw each man with a hand on the titles, but in the pushing and shoving Morrison ended up falling, holding the titles.
Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins via DQ
Seth decided to take the easy way out here and get disqualified. Before hitting KO with the ring bell, the match was an entertaining and hard hitting affair.
KO couldn’t let the match end in a DQ, so he grabbed a mic and yelled at Seth. He tells Seth to prove he is a man by letting the match restart…this time as a No DQ match. Seth agreed and away we went!
Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins via Pinfall (Stunner)
If KO was looking for a Mania moment, I’d say he got one. Jumping off the Wrestlemania logo? Yeah that was legit. KO finally got his earned victory over Rollins, but is this truly the end for the two men?
We finally see our Wrestlemania host, Gronk again. He was with Mojo, when R-Truth joins them. Truth talked about how he still has to defend his title, but of course he has many names for it, and then asked for Mojo and Gronk to look out for him.
Unfortunately for Truth, both men were eyeing his title. Gronk elbowed Truth and went for a pin, but Mojo pulled him off taking the victory for himself.
Paul Heyman gave an interview backstage. He said Drew McIntyre is 24 hours away from being exposed as a wannabe that couldn’t fill Brock Lesnar’s shoes.
Braun Strowman defeated Bill Goldberg to become the new Universal Champion
Goldberg started off the match with three quick spears, but after a pin attempt Strowman kicked out. After a fourth spear, Goldberg didn’t go for the pin, instead looked for the Jackhammer. A mistake. Strowman hit him with FOUR powerslams to earn the victory.
Undertaker defeated AJ Styles by burying him alive
Look, to me this was cinematic genius. AJ rolled up in an old school hearse and we got AMERICAN BADASS TAKER. Go and do yourself a favor, watch this match and just forget about things for awhile.
